HALEP 4-4 BERTENS: Bertens back in the groove now and races to a 40-0 lead before throwing in a first double fault, going for a big second serve. Still no easy games as Bertens then hooks wide but seals the game with a lucky net cord that trickles over.

HALEP 4-3 BERTENS: Bertens has a golden chance to take a grip on the game but hits a shocking drive volley wide with the court at her mercy. But Halep returns the compliment with a horrible backhand half way up the net and hits long to concede two break back points. Bertens forces an error as Halep nets and it’s back on serve again.

HALEP 3-2 BERTENS: Already, this match looks a tough one to call. Long rallies and no easy games for either player. A brilliant crosscourt forehand winner and solid serve up the tee sees Halep edge the game to 30.
