So that's the end of another thrilling, compelling day - I'll see you tomorrow. I'm off for a lie down.

Rybarikova 6-3 6-3 Vandeweghe
Quick start to the game from Rybarikova, but at 30-0 we have a row about a call ... Vandeweghe thinks the ball was incorrectly called out while she was hitting into the net, and as such she was distracted ... "Absolute baloney", she tells the umpire ... have you ever played tennis? When someone calls out when you're in motion, that's a distraction." The umpire doesn't change her decision, and Vandeweghe, her head totally gone, quickly loses two more points and RYBARIKOVA, FROM NOWHERE, IS IN THE SEMI-FINALS! This time last year she was on the ITF tour, in Surbiton, coming back from a career-threatening injury; this really is a ridiculous, incredible effort, and she now plays Muguruza on Thursday!

Rybarikova 6-3 5-3 Vandeweghe
Tracy Austin wonders if Vandeweghe is feeling the weight of opportunity, given how open the women's competition is this year, and she certainly seems to have given up now. But from 0-30 she nabs a point, and then Rybarikova goes long and wide with a forehand down the line ... only to hoist an ok lob and see an overhead whacked long; matchpoint. But Vandeweghe claws back to deuce, playing the kind of tennis Pat Cash is trying to instil in her; not always going for the line and a clean winner, but hitting percentage shots that put her opponent in difficulty. Anyhow, she's soon forced to save another matchpoint, which she does by rushing the net, but plays an awful volley such that she now faces a third ... saved with a serve and backhand punch. And then she finds something form somewhere, a couple of first serves allowing her power-game to emerge; she celebrates advantage and game with gusto and aggression. Rybarikova will have to serve for it.

Rybarikova 6-3 5-2 Vandeweghe
Rybarikova, 28 and in her first Slam quarter-final, is showing no sign of nerves. She's serves really well, and used a variety of spins and lengths such that Vandeweghe has never got comfy. Her 25th unforced error means that she's about to serve to stay in the match.

Rybarikova 6-3 4-2 Vandeweghe
Unforced errors 21 and 22 - versus six for Rybarikova - put Vandeweghe in trouble, but she rises like a salmon to despatch a backhand smash when really, a passing shot not a lob was called for. So Coco restores the cosmic balance of things by inserting a double-fault, then donates another! Oh dear, dear, dear me. Two holds and Vandeweghe is home.

Rybarikova 6-3 3-2 Vandeweghe
Rybarikova gets her first serve in and Vandeweghe gets her first return out ... that should increase the peace. Rybarikova appears to be wearing Lotto trainers, wow; whatever next, Quasar? Anyhow, she gets herself to 40-15 but can't run down a drop-shot and moments later it's deuce. Vandeweghe, though, goes long on a forehand - marginally - and then shmices a backhand cross-court wide.
19:17
Coco looks in an alright mood...
19:17
Here come the players!
17:24
I'm going to guess this little tussle will be next on centre; it's still raining.
16:11
And there we go: play is suspended.
16:08
Rybarikova 6-3 2-2 Vandeweghe
Vandeweghe needed that; a love game. But it's starting to rain, I'm afraid.
16:07
Rybarikova 6-3 2-1 Vandeweghe
And there's one, Rybarikova holding to 15 while a storm brews down the other end.
16:03
Rybarikova 6-3 1-1 Vandeweghe
Coco is for it now, allowing Rybarikova to break back immediately - she welts a forehand miles out of play at 30-40, and I'd not be at all surprised to see her lose a few games in a row.

Rybarikova 6-3 0-1 Vandeweghe
Well who saw that coming? Vandeweghe breaks in the first game of the second set; can she lay off herself long enough to consolidate?

Rybarikova 6-3 Vandeweghe
You could see that one coming. Vandeweghe is tight, Rybarikova piles in, and on set-point a squash-shot return is all it takes to elicit the mistake.
15:52
Rybarikova 5-3 Vandeweghe
Rybarikova retorts to Vandeweghe's love game with one of her own. If she's any sense, which she does, she'll be looking to attack serve wherever possible, and force her opponent to doubt herself.
15:46
Rybarikova 4-3 Vandeweghe
Vandeweghe gives herself a break after dispensing a love game, but expect more mini-tantrums if Rybarikova can hold.
15:43
Rybarikova 4-2 Vandeweghe
Vandeweghe is at the back of the court shouting at herself - "read the ball" and the like - because Rybarikova is 40-0 ahead and break-back chances are running out. Two more holds and the first set is hers.
15:39
Rybarikova 3-2 Vandeweghe
Vandeweghe, who struggles under pressure, musters an ace at 30-all, then rushes to the net behind her next serve and plays a decent volley which facilitates a simple smash.
15:35
Rybarikova 3-1 Vandeweghe
Rybarikova has done brilliantly to get this far ... and she's done it by playing excellent tennis. She holds to 30, and looks by far the more assured player so far.
