Hello and welcome to LIVE updates of the second of the women's semi finals at Wimbledon 2017, between five-time champion, Venus Williams and No.6 seed, Johanna Konta. The Brit is hoping to become the first woman from this country to reach the final since Virginia Wade back in 1977. The players are due on Centre Court shortly.

Just the one hour and 13 minutes.... Venus was just too hot to handle in the end.

GAME, SET AND MATCH! - KONTA 4-6 2-6 WILLIAMS. JoKo can't quite wriggle free and faces two match points from deuce. Venus blows one while a timely big serve takes care of the other before a double fault brings up a third. This time Venus converts with a clinical pass. It means Konta's hopes of emulating Virginia Wade are over after the evergreen Williams, 37, put her to the sword in straight sets to set up a final showdown with Spain's Garbine Muguruza. The 40-year wait for a British woman to win Wimbledon goes on while Williams' bid for a sixth SW19 crown and an eighth Slam title overall remains on course after a tough couple of months off the court. It's disappointment for Konta, but she can be proud of her efforts at Wimbledon this year and will move into the world's top five as a result when the new rankings come out next week.

KONTA 4-6 2-5 WILLIAMS. No major concerns for Venus. Konta gets in a jab but William continues to take the best the Brit has to offer and fire it back with interest. She holds to 15 and is one game away from the final.

KONTA 4-6 2-4 WILLIAMS. No easy games for Konta. She sees a 40-0 lead eaten away to deuce. More pressure, but despite being clearly ruffled by what's happened, she digs deep to stay just the one break behind.

KONTA 4-6 1-4 WILLIAMS. Venus consolidates with ease thanks to some brutal serving, including another one to the body that Konta has to dodge. The Brit's hopes are fading fast.

BREAK! - KONTA 4-6 1-3 WILLIAMS. It's looking bleak for JoKo. She blows a crosscourt forehand by an inch before being completely bamboozled by a fortunate net cord from her opponent. A double fault offers up triple break point and leaves her on the brink. She saves two but another deep backhand from Venus does the crucial damage courtesy of another nudge off the net. The American is a set and a break to the good and on course for the final.

KONTA 4-6 1-2 WILLIAMS. Konta being given a taste of her own medicine as her knack of turning tricky service games into holds is being more than matched by the No.10 seed. A 15-30 opening soon evaporates as consecutive forehand errors hand the game to Venus.

KONTA 4-6 1-1 WILLIAMS. A very important game for Konta ends with a big first serve Venus can't get back. The American had her chances, but it's another clutch hold for the Brit who is desperately trying to fight her way back into this match.

KONTA 4-6 0-1 WILLIAMS. Venus off to a flyer in Set 2 with a love hold. Once again, the scoreboard pressure is on Konta.

SET! - KONTA 4-6 WILLIAMS. The five-time champion springs from defence into attack and breaks to 15 from triple BP to steal a very tight and high-class set of tennis. The veteran American has one foot in the final. How will Konta respond? She's going to have to force a decider once again to keep her dream alive.

KONTA 4-5 WILLIAMS. Venus comes under real pressure as a shocking error on the volley is followed by a crunching forehand winner from Konta for double break point. The American hits back all guns blazing with a super backhand winner and a brave second serve full of pace to make deuce. She continues to hit big and snares the next two points after both players traded big blows.

KONTA 4-4 WILLIAMS. More magnificent play from Konta as she handles another tricky situation superbly. A second double fault gives Venus a glimmer at 30-30, but a big serve and a flat backhand put her back in the driving seat before she seals it with a crisp forehand winner to Williams' left flank.
