Top seed Svetlana Kuznetsova moved into the quarter-finals of the WTA Bali tournament on Wednesday with an easy 6-1 6-2 victory over Erika Takeo.
The world number five is looking to bounce back from a poor US Open and try and claim what would be only her second WTA title of the season.
Her chances of success were boosted on Tuesday when seeds Ana Ivanovic and Daniela Hantuchova were knocked out of the tournament, but the likes of Patty Schnyder and 2005 champion Lindsay Davenport remain in the draw.
Kuznetsova admitted that the scoreline in her match with Takeo somewhat flattered her.
"I'm happy I won 6-1 6-2 but I could have made it easier I think," Kuznetsova told reporters.
"It was pretty tough to adjust my game to hers because she was someone I've never played before and never seen before."
"With all respect to her she moves pretty well. I was hitting the ball to the side and she was always there. Her footwork is very good."
Sixth seed Marion Bartoli is also still in the shake up, as she moved onto the quarter-finals with a 6-1 6-3 victory over Australia's Casey Dellacqua.
Ninth seed Aiki Nakamura was not so successful however, as she was beaten in straight sets 6-3 7-5 by Czech player Hana Sromova.
Meanwhile, Hantuchova's first round conqueror, the Hungarian Melinda Czink continued her good run in Bali, by beating Indonesian wild card player Angelique Widjaja 7-6 6-1 to move into the last eight.
There were also two first round matches played on Wednesday, with Elise Tamaela and Andreja Klepac beating Maria Vento-Kabchi and Shikha Uberoi respectively.
