So next up for Clijsters will be either world number one Caroline Wozniacki or Russian Vera Zvonareva, the two players that she beat in the finals of the last two US Opens. She's got to fancy that one!

WINNER! Despite going 15-30 down Clijsters quickly bounces back to earn herself a match point with a forhand winner. She squanders it though with a shocking mis-hit forehand long but a second match point soon follows as Stosur hits long. And this time Clijsters does wrap up the match, producing a solid first serve out wide that Stosur can only return into the net
5-1

BREAK! Clijsters comes up with a solid forehand thatr Stosur can only return long to hand the Belgian another two break points. One of these would leave Clijsters serving for the match. Stosur saves the first with a solid serve that Clijsters can only hit long. But the Belgian produces a sensational backhand winner down the line off a very, very good Stosur serve out wide. Clijster will serve for a place in the final
4-1
Clijsters slams the door shut on any hope Stosur had of getting back into this set, racing through a love service game and finding ace number six in the process. And the Belgian is now potentially just two games away from her third final in the season-ending championships
3-1
Clijsters wins her one and only point of the game by racing up to the net in a low crouched position to a drop shot and slicing it back over the net. But Stosur enjoyed a much better game that time around and she holds to 15 with a forehand drive volley winner to get off the mark in this second set
3-0
Clijsters races through a service hold to consolidate the early break, sealing it to love with an ace out wide and Stosur now is surely just playing for pride. Unless of course, Clijsters goes walkabout as she did in the second set against Azarenka earlier in the week
2-0

BREAK! A delightful topspin forehand lob from Clijsters earns her two points for the early break in this second set. And one is all that's needed as Stosur sends her inside out cross court forehand just wide into the tramlines. That could be the match right there unless the Australian can somehow find something to stop the rot
1-0
Clijsters holds for the opening game of the second set, sealing it to 15 with a backhand winner down the line despite a cracking sliced backhand drop shot from Stosur that just snuck over the net as it went across court
7-6

SET! One chance is all that's needed as Clijsters produces another solid serve that Stosur slaps back into the net and that's the set for the Belgian, who celebrates with her first "come on" of the day! It's a huge ask now for Stosur as she looks to recover from a set down against Clijsters

A solid serve from Clijsters (which Stosur returns into the net) sees her sneak ahead once again before the Belgian grabs the mini-break once again with a stunning length forehand onto the line that Stosur can only hit off the frame of her racquet directly into the crowd. And Clijsters goes on to earn herself three set points when Stosur, distracted by the Belgian's movement on the baseline, drills her forehand drive volley just wide
TB3-3

Clijsters fails to cope once again with the Stosur serve and hits a return into the net before Stosur's cross court forehand from out wide on the next point keeps things on serve at the first change of ends. This set could still go absolutely either way - you'd be crazy to call it even at this late stage
TB2-2

Clijsters survives a wrong-footing on the baseline to take the first point (on the Stosur serve) when the Australian is herself wrong-footed and hits long. But Stosur levels up (against the Clijsters serve) when the Belgian misses a forehand down the line despite having most of the court to aim at. Stosur then goes ahead with another huge cross court forehand (that Clijsters can only hit into the net at full stretch) before a Clijsters backhand winner down the line levels after a great lob
6-6
Clijsters finds herself in a spot of bother once again as a forehand down the line goes astray to hand Stosur a 15-30 lead. But a change-of-direction cross court forehand winner from the Belgian sees things back level before the Australian mis-hits a forehand long and Clijsters goes on to hold when another forehand drifts long from Stosur. This tense first set will be decided on the tie-break
5-6
Despite an impressive point to open from Stosur which she seals with a smash winner after a series of huge forehands, the Australian finds herself another two break points down. Clijsters squanders the first with a tight forehand into the net before Stosur saves the second with a massive serve out wide followed by an inside out forehand winner across court and Stosur goes on to hold with another huge serve out wide. Clijsters will have to serve to stay in it for a second time
5-5
A tremendous return of serve from Stosur almost knocks Clijsters off her feet with the power and the Belgian seems slightly rattled as she promptly offers up a double fault to hand the Aussie a first set point. Clijsters saves it with a gutsy backhand winner right into the corner before going on to hold when Stosur hits an off-balance backhand into the net whilst retreating behind the baseline
4-5
Stosur has improved on the backhand wing but it is still comfortably her weaker wing as she slices a high backhand long of the baseline (albeit with a late call) and Clijsters goes on to level at deuce with another forehand overhead - not a clearn winner this time but enough to take the point. But the Aussie is let off the hook slightly as Clijsters sends a relatively straightforward forehand into the tramlines and Stosur goes on to hold. The Belgian will have to serve to stay in the set next
4-4
Good choice of play from Stosur as she pushes Clijsters wide with a inside out forehand before going for the forehand winner down the line. But the execution isn't quite there as the Aussie fires long and Clijsters goes on to hold to love with a forehand smash winner down the line after working her way into the net
3-4
A very important game for Stosur as she stops the run of three straight games against her, holding to 30 with a forehand winner down the line - another huge forehand, one of the most imposing shots of the women's game this season
3-3
Clijsters races through a service hold to 15 to get things completely back on serve as Stosur shoots a slightly worried look back to coach David Taylor and the rest of her camp. Has the Belgian found her form now? Not completely it would seem as the one point Clijsters did drop in that game was another totally mis-timed forehand long
2-3

BREAK! Clijsters gets things back on track this time around as she finally takes advantage of one of her numerous break points so far - battering an angry-looking forehand over the net for a winner to break at the second attempt in the game
