KVITOVA 6-4 - GAME SET AND MATCH! After her horrorshow in the last game Zvonareva finds a super return, although her next one is out. A very nervous serve follows and it's 15-30... Then, on second serve, she finds two decent shots but Zvonareva with a shocking dipping forehand well wide. What is she doing? Matchpoint now as the Russian goes long... Volley at the net and Kvitova wins.

KVITOVA 5-4 - BREAK! A break point for Kvitova thanks to three bad errors from Zvonareva... A lifeline for the Czech to close this out in two sets... And she does as another shocker from the Russian sees her spoon one into the net. Golly. Kvitova serving for the match.

KVITOVA 4-4 - BREAK! The pair trade blows before Kvitova regains her composure from the baseline as she grinds out successive points. Then she goes wide, challenging.... Nope, about an inch off. 30-30. And after a super rally Kvitova goes agonisingly wide with a well-worked forehand from the corner. Break point again... And what a pass as Kvitova moves into net net! Another break!
-
KVITOVA 4-3 - A love hold for the Russian as she finally shows the form we know she's capable of, her serves almost impossible to return.

KVITOVA 4-2 - BREAK! Nerves from the Czech? She drops a couple of points on serve then double faults and three break-back points to the Russian! A point back to Kvitova after an unsuccessful challenge from the Russian but Zvonareva takes the next point as Kvitova nets. Poor.

KVITOVA 4-1 - BREAK! Killer return from the Czech to go 30-15 up. But Zvonareva fights back and sends it to deuce. Then she goes for a drop that doesn't clear the net... Back to duece as she saves break point with a decent first serve that Kvitova returns long. This is an extended flirt around deuce as Kvitova has break point a third time... And she takes this one with an angled forehand pass into space with Zvonareva struggling to even get to the net.

KVITOVA 3-1 - When concentrating Kvitova is peerless. But she loses concentration at 40-0 by over-enthusiastically pounding a backhand long and following it with what she thinks is a winner but is a millimetre out, according to hawkeye. She does hold in the end with a fearsome double-hander down the line. Unplayable.
-
KVITOVA 2-1 - Lovely shot from Zvonareva, dying just short of the Czech who can't get her racquet under it. But a double-fault gives the Czech a sniff. But, with a decent second serve that Kvitova nets and a smart forehand into space finally the Russian holds to stop the rot.
-
KVITOVA 2-0 - What should be a comfortable hold for the Czech is complicated by an unforced error, a spooning shot wide. But her third ace wins it to 30. Six games in a row. This could be a quick set.

KVITOVA 1-0 - BREAK! Oooh a killer return from the Czech to earn herself a break point. It just glided into the corner - if she can consistently play like she has the last four games she'll be word number one. And after controlling the next rally she sinks a forehand into the right corner to continue the break. Zvonareva still hasn't held serve.

KVITOVA 6-2 - SET! After losing the first point, a succession of serves out wide give Zvonareva the run-around as Kvitova is able to find the corners with ease. Her forehand is so powerful and she holds to 15 as Zvonerava cracks on a rally, unforced error and not the first she mis-hits off court.

KVITOVA 5-2 - BREAK! The Czech has awoken, a lovely backhand volley at the net to take the first point, then a delightful crosscourt pass for the second. Double fault and it's three break points... Zvonareva challenges as she thinks the second serve - which hit the net - landed on the line. It didn't. And she breaks with a killer disguised backhand into the corner. Suddenly Kvitova raises her game and will serve for the set.
-
KVITOVA 4-2 - Finally Kvitova gets her renowned lefty serve going, winning three points without reply to hold from a point down. First hold of the match after a vicious smash at the net.

KVITOVA 3-2 - BREAK! You're kidding me. Five in a row now as Zvonareva skews an attempted volley well wide. So scrappy from both women.

KVITOVA 2-2 - BREAK! Four in a row now as Kvitova throws away a lead on serve with some scrappy errors, Zvonareva sitting tight and taking her chances.

KVITOVA 2-1 - BREAK! AGAIN! Three on the trot now. Good first serve but a booming return from Kvitova to go 30-15 up. She wins the next rally as the Russian goes long and two more break points...Terrible error from Zvonareva at the baseline as she mis-hits a backhand as a park player would, sending at a 180 degree angle.

KVITOVA 1-1 - BREAK BACK! A correct challenge by Zvonareva as her shot was just in. That would have put her 30-0 up against serve but she has to be content with the one. Kvitova levels with an unplayable forehand pass that kisses the line. Two break points now as Zvonareva uses the sense of injustice to spray the ball around the baseline. And she breaks right back as her return is crushed into the net by Kvitova, who was left short.

KVITOVA 1-0 - BREAK! The match and the tournament get underway, Zvonareva on serve but Kvitova showcasing her power to take the first two points. The Russian steadies the ship though as she puts in some strong first serves, the Czech netting and going wide after two mini-rallies. But a break point as Kvitova drills a sweet low volley over the net that drops quickly and leaves the Russian helpless. Then an unforced error, shocking forehand from the baseline and it's an opeing-game break.
