Stosur shows Aussie grit to save with that backhand up the line but misses as she goes for the repeat. A double fault hands Errani the win and Stosur really has capitulated in this set.
STOSUR 3-6 6-2 0-5 – Errani opens with an ace but Stosur finds another backhand winner up the line, one of her more consistent shots today. The Aussie digs deep to save the second after a long exchange but nets and that’s the double break.

A forehand error follows to give the Italian two break points and Stosur inexplicably misses a midcourt smash despite letting it bounce. Advantage Errani.
STOSUR 3-6 6-2 0-1 – Stosur with the momentum but she fires a backhand horribly wide on the opening point. Errani repays the compliment off the same wing then gets away with a netted Stosur volley before slicing wide. The Italian slices well wide and is statuesque to a blazing Stosur forehand winner to go break point down. But the Aussie misses an easy forehand and a scream of ‘come on’ accompanies an Errani backhand winner for the game.
