Former French Open champion Anastasia Myskina struggled past lucky loser Viktoriya Kutuzova of Ukraine to reach the second round of the Stockholm Open on Tuesday 4-6 6-4 6-0. Meanwhile, third seed Vera Douchevina of Russia knocked out Croatian Ivana Lisjak to advance at the Olympic Stadium
Myskina, the second seed, will play Camille Pin of France in the second round.
In other first round results, sixth seed Martina Sucha of the Slovak Republic ousted Dane Caroline Wozniacki 7-6 (7-5) 6-1.
Columbian seventh seed Catalina Castano knocked out Stephanie Foretz of France 6-3 7-6, while ninth seed Alyona Bondarenko swept past Selima Sfar of Tunisia 6-3 6-2.
Sweden's Sofia Arvidsson beat Barbora Strycova of the Czech Republic 6-4 6-4, while Finland's Emma Laine defeated Maria Sanchez Lorenzo of Spain 3-6 7-5 7-6.
Spain's Arantxa Parra Santonja beat Olga Savchuk of Ukraine 1-6 6-1 6-4, France's Severine Beltrame knocked out Alla Kudryavtseva of Russia 6-1 6-2 and Julia Schruff of Germany thrashed Czech Eva Birnerova 6-3 6-1.
