The two nations faced off against each other in the morning to see who would advance straight through to the gold-medal match.
Switzerland opened the scoring when their skip Alina Paetz played a raise take-out for two points in the first end, with Canadian skip Jennifer Jones reducing the deficit two ends later.
Paetz nudged the Swiss 3-1 ahead in the fourth end, but by the eighth the match was all square at 4-4.
But Paetz put Switzerland 6-4 ahead in the ninth end and that was enough to see them through to the final, leaving Canada to go again, this time against Russia.
However, Jones was not about to let a second final chance slip through her grasp as she started in fine form, building up a 5-1 lead after four ends.
Russian skip Anna Sidorova halved the deficit in the sixth end but the seventh saw Canada score one point to once again stretch their lead.
And not to be outdone yet again, Jones kept up the pressure en route to a 7-4 win, meaning Russia will battle Scotland in the bronze medal match.
