City and Everton could swap Bony for Stones

Manchester City and Everton could do a deal that sees Wilfried Bony join Everton and John Stones head to City for a cut price. The report in The Sun says that if Romelu Lukaku leaves Everton in the summer window, Manchester City would try to lower John Stones' transfer fee - at least in terms of cash - by off-loading Bony to Everton. Instead of the reported £50 million deal for Stones, City would pick up the defender for just £20 million plus the striker.
Paper Round's view: Wishful thinking on City's part, but worth a try. Why not kill two birds with one stone and try to lower the immense fee for Stones that they're currently facing? At the moment, Everton are in the position of bargaining power as Aymeric Laporte will stay in La Liga. However, a window of opportunity may open for City if Lukaku hits the exit.

Real Madrid plot swap sign Eden Hazard

Real Madrid have offered Chelsea Alvaro Morata plus £30 million for Eden Hazard. The report in the Mirror says that the £75 million total for the Belgian international comes as Zinedine Zidene tries to secure his services in the summer window. Chelsea are braced for the move, while Madrid believe their admiration of James Rodriguez could also be another bargaining chip on the table to secure Hazard.

Paper Round's view: Chelsea are in the box seat for Alvaro Morata regardless of Eden Hazard leaving, but would prefer not to lose him regardless of his poor form. However, if push comes to shove and the player decides to leave after his tumultuous last year at the club, Chelsea are picking the right time to replace him. Conte has to secure Champions League football straight away despite retooling the team, so he needs to know immediately if Hazard is in or out.

West Ham and Crystal Palace target Christian Benteke

West Ham and Crystal Palace will tussle for Liverpool's Christian Benteke, according to the Mirror. The report says that both clubs are likely to miss out on their top transfer targets, leaving them both desperate to secure a rated striker before the transfer window closes. West Ham are likely to miss out on Alexandre Lacazette, while Crystal Palace failed in a shock bid to sign Michy Batshuayi; both want Benteke, who has made it clear he wants to leave Anfield.

Paper Round's view: The only complication here is Benteke's current wage, which is reported to be around £120,000-a-week. Both teams will be pushing for Liverpool to clear him out by paying some of that wage, as he's clearly not able to produce at the level that kind of money demands.

Dwight Gayle and Matt Richie on brink of Newcastle move

Crystal Palace's Dwight Gayle and AFC Bournemouth's Matt Richie are likely to head to Newcastle, according to ESPNFC. The newly relegated club has made two swift moves for the pair, by putting up similar bids of around £10 million for each player. The discussion of personal terms with both is said to happen in the next few days, as Newcastle prepare for their fight back into the Premier League.

Paper Round's view: Both players are clearly above the standard of the Championship, and should give Newcastle some good returns going forward. However, the club shouldn't get carried away padding their forward half, as their midfield is still an area with huge personnel problems.
