The Dutchman becomes Watford's eighth signing of the summer and joins on a four-year contract in a deal reportedly worth £7million.
The Watford website stresses that Janmaat is a right wing-back, as opposed to right-back, and his prowess in that position could be an indicator to why Mazzarri signed him.

The Italian has used a 3-5-2 formation so far and throughout his career he has placed great importance on the role of wing-backs within the team.
Janmaat shone in that position at the 2014 World Cup under Louis van Gaal and in total he has won 27 caps for his country.
He told the club's website: "I'm really happy to be here, it's a new adventure for me. I was really pleased that Watford showed interest in me because I wanted to play in the Premier League.
"We [Newcastle] lost three times to Watford last season. They had a good season and I hope we can do the same again this year.
"The club is showing great ambition and wants to improve, and I want to be part of that."
