Session 11 in Las Vegas saw Norway beat the Swedes 5-3 as the PyeongChang silver medallists faltered late on, with the teams evenly matched until the eighth end when Norway pushed on and secured the final two points.
After the match, both teams have played seven games, each winning six and losing one.
At the other end of the table, bottom-placed Germany continued their misery run as fifth-placed Russia beat them 8-6. A close clash took the match to the final end, where Russia sealed victory to maintain hopes of a top-six qualification place for the next round.
A mid-table clash saw Switzerland beat Korea 12-11, after a late resurgence saw Korea grab four points in the eighth end before the Swiss scored two in both the ninth and tenth ends to claim a narrow victory.
Switzerland are on track to qualify in sixth place, ahead of Korea who are joint-seventh with China, but with nine sessions left there is all to play for.
China, meanwhile, suffered a heavy 11-5 loss to ninth-placed Italy, who went ahead by three points in the opening two ends - a lead which China never matched. Italy's five points in the ninth end secured a convincing win.
