The Swedes convincingly beat Italy 9-4 in a match which only lasted six ends as they made it seven wins from eight in session 12 of the round robin in Las Vegas.
Canada sit second in the standings with an convincing 8-2 win over Norway, who slip to fourth after only their second defeat from eight.
Scotland move up to third after a terrific seventh end proved to be the difference against Korea.
With the contest delicately poised at 3-2, the Scots snared four stones to open up a five-point lead and seal the victory – their sixth from seven games so far.
In the final game of the session, Russia and hosts United States were level pegging at 5-5 after eight ends, before the hosts edged ahead 6-5 in the ninth, despite the Russians having the hammer.
However, Russia staged a dramatic comeback in the final end, stealing two stones to secure a 7-6 win against the odds and move them up to fifth.
The US are now joint bottom with Germany with just one win from seven matches.
