World Men's Curling Championships: Scotland open defence with pair of wins over South Korea and USA

Defending champions Scotland got off to the best possible start at the World Men's Curling Championships with two victories from two to move top of the standings in Schaffhausen, Switzerland. Team Mout beat South Korea 10-3 earlier in the day, before returning to beat the United States of America by the same scoreline in the evening session. Olympic champions Sweden beat the Netherlands 8-1.

Scotland seal gold at World Curling Championships

Scotland opened their title defence at the World Men's Curling Championships with two victories out of two to sit top of the standings after the opening day of competition.
Team Mouat eased past South Korea 10-3 in the first match of the day on Saturday before despatching USA by the same scoreline in the evening.
They sit at the summit alongside Canada after Team Gushue also earned a pair of wins, defeating Czech Republic 9-8 in an extra-end thriller before beating Germany 8-5.
Olympic champions Sweden also opened up with victory in their sole game on Saturday, easing past the Netherlands 8-1 while Italy and Norway both notched wins against Japan and New Zealand respectively.
The only other team to earn victory on Saturday was the USA, who beat Switzerland 5-3 before defeat to Scotland.
