Climb starts at 4km to go.
Ah, that Soler attack was short-lived. He's now back in the bunch. Grupo compatto.

Sunweb have massed at the front, they are looking strong in support of Wilco Kelderman.
And here we go, Soler has binned off his pal, Ludvigsson and forges on.
As they marshal for the finale, Team Sky has five men to support Froome. They're lined out at the front of the bunch.

Klaxon! Simon Clarke is no longer on front of the peloton. Incredible effort from the Aussie.
The pace is really flying up now as all the GC teams start to position their men for this second and final climb of Cumbre del Sol.

Awooooga! 10km to go. Climb starts in six.
Simon Clarke still flogging himself on the front for Cannondale. In future, just assume he's there until I say otherwise.

We've about 8km to go until the final climb of Cumbre del Sol. I am excited. The break is doomed. 30 seconds.

That's the intermediate sprint passed by both break and peloton, although you sense all parties have bigger things on their minds.
Either that or he's just a massive show-off.
One suspects young Tobias knows his goose is cooked as far as the stage win is concerned...
And Tobias Ludvigsson clearly enjoying his day out in the break. He's just 'bunny hopped' from a speed bump, getting both wheels of his bike off the ground in the process.

Spain, of course, are still without a stage win in La Vuelta this year. Could today be the day with Soler in the break and Contador lurking in the peloton?
It's 30 seconds only for the break now as they hit the outskirts of Javea, or 'Xabia' if you want to use the local spelling.

I know what you're all asking, 'But Tom, what about the intermediate sprint?'. A very valid point. It's in about 5km and the points will likely go to either Marc Soler or Tobias Ludvigsson.
That gap is now at 48" with just over 20km to go...
Chapeau to Simon Clarke, he has absolutely buried himself today in service of Michael Woods, his Cannondale team leader. He's still on the front of the peloton as they approach Javea, in the shadow of Montgo.

The two remaining escapees have a minute on the peloton, which is not nearly enough with another ascent to Cumbre del Sol still to tackle.
