The man of the day was 33-year-old Tomasz Marczynski of Lotto Soudal with his maiden Grand Tour stage win.

So, no change in the top four as Froome retained his 11-second lead over Chaves, with Roche at 13 and Nibali at 36. We're waiting to hear how many seconds David De la Cruz lost.

Warren Barguil led the chasing group home 26 seconds down on the leaders, with the likes of Froome, Aru, Chaves, Nibali and Adam Yates all there.

Victory for Tomasz Marczynski (Lotto Soudal) who pips Mas and Poljanski for the win.

Under the flamme rouge for the leaders and it's going to be a three-up sprint for the win.

The three leaders have 20 seconds on Sanchez and Polanc and 35 seconds over the red jersey group.

Terrible luck for the American, who was chasing back onto the red jersey group when he hit the deck for a second time - landing hard on his left hip.

CRASH: Van Garderen hits the deck on a roundabout as he was drafting behind his BMC car and misjudged the corner.

Superb effort from our three leaders. Their gap is down to 27 seconds but it's not yet in the bag.

Polanc and Sanchez ride clear of the chasing group. The Spanish veteran from Astana is bent on making amends from his miscalculation earlier. But he's shaking his head. The three leaders still have 30 seconds.

So it's a Polish duo of Tomasz Marczynski and Pawel Poljanski out ahead with the rookie Spaniard Enric Mas. They have 37 seconds to play with as they negotiate the numerous roundabouts on the outskirts of Sagunt.

Big error of judgement from Luis Leon Sanchez, who thought it was all over and gave up - only to see his former breakaway companions stretch out their lead to 35 seconds.

Van Garderen, after his crash, is in now in the De la Cruz group about 40 seconds behind the main group. It's very confusing out there...

This chasing group includes Froome, Poels, Oomen, Contador, Chaves, Haig, Adam Yates, Nibali, Aru, Zakarin, Roche, Navarro, Vilela, Atapuma, Polanc, Kelderman and a few more... Sanchez and Pedrero now, after they dropped back... but the gap is up to 35 seconds now for the three leaders.

It's all a bit messy now. Mas, Poljanski and Marczyski have ridden clear, Sanchez and Pedrero have slowed down, Zakarin has attacked from the chasing group, and the others are none the wiser.

But there are some arguments going on in the chase group as to who should be leading the chase, so the gap extends back to 12 seconds for the leaders. The third group - which includes De la Cruz and Simon Yates - is another 30 seconds back.

With the break looking to sit up, Enric Mas has one last dig off the front. But the chasing group is just five seconds behind and the experienced Sanchez is inclined to wait until the reinforcements arrive before having a pop at the finish.
