Victory for Rohan Dennis of BMC! The Australian wins with a time of 9'40" - six seconds clear of Michael Kwiatkowski (Team Sky) and seven seconds clear of Victor Campanaerts (Lotto Soudal).

This won't be a good time for Vincenzo Nibali, who looks out of sorts out there. He's only good enough for 64th place a whopping 40 seconds down - but that's hardly any surprise given his condition and that crash in the Tour.

Quintana comes home 34 seconds down. We missed Simon Yates earlier - he was 29 seconds down.

This will be Dennis's first stage win on the Vuelta and with it he completes a full house of Grand Tour stage wins.

We have a new leader - and a winner, in all likelihood: Rohan Dennis is six seconds clear of Kwiatkowski at the finish and the Australian will be in red tonight.

Nibali and Quintana are 20 and 21 seconds down at the split.

Dennis on course! The Australian is five seconds clear at the first check - it looks like it will be a formality.

Peter Sagan is 32 seconds down so keeping his powder dry ahead of tomorrow's opening road stage, which finishes with a Cat.3 ramp to the line.

Gosh, Rigoberto Uran is well down at the finish - a full 38 seconds to be precise. Even worse than Fabio Aru, who is 33 seconds down...

David de la Cruz (Team Sky) and Nairo Quintana (Movistar) are down the ramp - so it's just Vincenzo Nibali (Bahrain Merida) to go. And the Italian gets going... so it's all in play now. We last saw Nibali on Alpe d'Huez where he was forced out of the Tour after fracturing some vertebrae...
