Chelsea Women are close to signing Colombian Mayra Ramirez for a club-record fee as a replacement for Sam Kerr. Kerr, Chelsea's talismanic striker, suffered a season-ending ACL injury in a warm-weather training camp in Morocco. Ramirez, 24, has scored six times in seven appearances for Levante and played a key role in Colombia's run to the quarter-finals of last year's Women's World Cup.

Chelsea Women are on the verge of signing Colombia striker Mayra Ramirez for a club-record fee, according to reports.
Still in four competitions, the Blues have been on the hunt for a replacement for Sam Kerr, who suffered an ACL injury during a warm weather training camp in Morocco.
Chelsea are next in action in the Women’s UEFA Champions League when they welcome Real Madrid to Stamford Bridge on Wednesday, January 24, live on TNT Sports.
Ramirez has been identified as the ideal candidate to lead the line for Emma Hayes’ side in the absence of Kerr, who is expected to be out for the rest of the campaign.
The 24-year-old has netted six times in seven league games this season for Levante to go with her 14 goals last term and helped Colombia reach the quarter-finals of the 2023 Women’s World Cup, where they were knocked out by England.
Chelsea are expected to recoup a portion of Ramirez’s transfer fee through the sale of midfielder Jessie Fleming, who is reportedly on her way to Portland Thorns.
Kerr has been instrumental in Chelsea’s success since arriving at Stamford Bridge in January 2020 - notching 58 goals in 73 Women’s Super League games - and had contributed four goals and three assists in eight appearances this season before her injury.
The Australian has also twice won the WSL Golden Boot and was nominated for the Bollon d’Or Feminin award in 2022.
Chelsea have won four consecutive WSL titles and are also still in the FA Cup, Conti Cup and Women’s UEFA Champions League.
