Now Luiz supplies a cross from the right as Juve head away again. The pressure is increasingly markedly on the away side now.
18'
Juve panic as Hazard puts in a dangerous cross from the left and Torres gets in front of Asamoah to get a head to the ball. Juve put the ball behind but the Hazard corner is poor.
17'
Torres threatens to break clear for Chelsea but his pass out left to Hazard is horrible. Oscar was coming on the right as well and the striker wasted a very nice opening.
16'
Vidal gets his first sight of goal when Giovinco plays the ball square to him and the Chile international sees his effort deflected wide for a corner.
14'
Vucinic wins the ball back from a lazy Mikel and only a good interception from Luiz prevents him from setting Giovinco free in the box. Mistakes occur on either side, but Chelsea have the edge at the moment.
13'
Ramires - who has been bright so far - tries to pick out Torres for a header but Barzagli heads behind for a corner. Lampard will take it...
12'
Ashley Cole threatens to make headway down the left but Barzagli charges across to throw himself into a challenge and extinguish the danger.
11'
Lampard turns one way and then the other 25 yards from goal as he looks for a pass. Seeing none he instead takes a shot and his deflected effort bounces into the arms of Buffon.
10'
Luiz closes down Giovinco quickly 25 yards from goal and forces the tiny playmaker into a loose pass that rolls out for a Chelsea throw.

Stat from Opta: "Last season, Chelsea won all six of their games at Stamford Bridge in the Champions League, scoring 17 goals and conceding only two."
8'
Pirlo takes out three Chelsea players with a pass of beautiful simplicity through to Vucinic. He spreads it wide but again Juventus are unable to carve out a chance.
7'
Cole fails to deal with a lofted pass from Pirlo and the ball rolls into the path of Vucinic. He tries to play in Lichtsteiner but puts too much on the ball.
6'
Replays show that Chiellini had his hands all over Terry from that previous corner and as he brought him to ground Chelsea could arguably have had a penalty.
5'
Mirko Vucinic rolls off Luiz and into space in the box but as he fails to bring down a ball over the top of the defence he is ruled offside in any case.

Big chance for Chelsea! The home side win another corner and Frank Lampard delivers an outswinger. Juve have three centre-backs on the pitch but none of them can shackle Luiz as he gets a toe to the ball and sends it directly at Buffon, who saves. He should have done better.
3'
Ramires and Oscar combine on the counter and Chelsea win a corner when Bonucci puts a cross from the right behind. The ball bounces around the box following the set-piece but Gianluigi Buffon grabs control.
2'
Chelsea look comfortable on the ball in the early stages before David Luiz heaves a long ball down the line to Ramires, who gets his head to the ball but loses possession. As expected, Oscar lines up behind Torres, with Ramires to the right and Hazard to the left.

KICK OFF!

The armed forces are parading the Champions League trophy around all four ends of Stamford Bridge. If any further inspiration were needed for Chelsea's players then that may have provided it. The players come out to a warm reception at Stamford Bridge.

The last Chelsea player to kick a ball in the Champions League was Didier Drogba, as his penalty at the Allianz Arena ensured Chelsea emerged victorious from the shoot-out in Munich to win the European Cup for the first time. Can they retain the trophy this season? Almost certainly not - history dictates that much. But they certainly have the players to go very far in the competition. With Hazard in tow, they are a better team than last season.
