Hello and welcome to LIVE updates of the first leg of the Champions League last 16 clash between Bayern Munich and Arsenal at the Allianz Arena. It's the fourth time the teams have locked horns at this point in the competition since 2005. Bayern have progressed on the previous three occasions - but can the Gunners pull off a surprise and reach the last eight for the first time since 2010? It's one of the ties of the round and it all gets underway from 7.45pm GMT.

Bayern stopper, Manuel Neuer told the media: "It will be a great game for fans to watch. It's important that we take a good result to London, ideally with a clean sheet. We defenders always give our all to stop the opponent scoring. We have had very good results. We're looking forward to the UEFA Champions League, against a top opponent, on a big stage. Arsenal have made good signings and have grown as a team in recent years. It will be two great games."

WILL BAYERN REGRET BENCHING MULLER: Only Cristiano Ronaldo (17) and Lionel Messi (20) have scored more last-16 goals than Thomas Müller (9).

Ancelotti: "You need character and luck to win the UEFA Champions League, but above all courage. We won't focus on avoiding conceding, but we want to control possession as Arsenal have quick players and can counter well."

Arsène Wenger: "We need to forget the past meetings with Bayern and focus on now. We have experience of playing them every year, and they always have the same goal of winning the competition. We are capable, we have home advantage in the second leg, but that means nothing if we don't play well here. I expect Bayern will try and dominate, as usual. They will play with a lot of possession, with a lot of speed in attack. We need a big performance against them. Ospina will play in goal: the quality of his performances in the group stage is why we are here today."

Last night PSG sent shockwaves around Europe by humiliating the favourites heading into the last 16 stage, Barcelona.

Bayern defender Mats Hummels was spot on with his prediction that Ozil would start: "For me, it was a surprise that Mesut is doubtful to play. He is a world-class player and someone who is always put on the field. I think he will be on the pitch from the first minute because he is a class player."

BREAKING: Ozil does start for Arsenal. There had been speculation the Germany playmaker may be dropped, but he is given the nod by Arsene Wenger. Granit Xhaka also makes the team with Theo Walcott dropping to the bench.

No Thomas Muller for Bayern. He drops out of the side as Carlo Ancelotti makes two changes from the side that won 2-0 against Ingolstadt at the weekend. In come Arjen Robben and Douglas Costa. Josh Kimmich is the other player to make way while Xabi Alonso does start for Bayern despite missing training on Monday with a knee injury. Full line ups and subs shortly.

MOST RECENTLY: Bayern thumped the Gunners 5-1 at the Allianz in last season's group stage. The Gunners had won the first meeting at Emirates Stadium 2-0 through goals from Olivier Giroud and Mesut Ozil.
