So, there we go: a spectacular display of attacking football; a spectacular display of defending too, but in the opposite sense. Monaco were wonderful for an hour, but City were still a threat throughout that period, and did brilliantly to capitalise when the opportunity presented itself. So, City are strong favourites to progress, but will know they're down for another examination in the second leg.

I wonder what happened to Monaco; perhaps they aren't fit enough to go attack for attack with a team as fast as City. Still, that doesn't quite explain their disintegration, and in particular where Fabinho and Bakayoko got to when things got real.

Sane breaks down the left so Fabinho swings an arm across his phizog for which he's booked.

Falcao flicks on for Germain, and whatddaya know, there's Stones, relieving him of the bal and moving away with it nicely.

And that's exactly what they're doing, Aguero wriggling space just outside the box and wellying a shot that Subasic beats clear.

If City have any sense they'll try and score again while the going's good.
