Evening all, and eyes down for what should be yet another jazzer. City have run into form - it took longer than it ought to have done, but Pep Guardiola has worked out his best attacking combination - while Monaco know exactly what they're doing, and sport a variety of excellent young players. On top of that, both sides are committed to attack, so we're set.

So, there we go: a spectacular display of attacking football; a spectacular display of defending too, but in the opposite sense. Monaco were wonderful for an hour, but City were still a threat throughout that period, and did brilliantly to capitalise when the opportunity presented itself. So, City are strong favourites to progress, but will know they're down for another examination in the second leg.

Full-time: Manchester City 5-3 Monaco

We've not had a goal for a bit, pathetic.

I wonder what happened to Monaco; perhaps they aren't fit enough to go attack for attack with a team as fast as City. Still, that doesn't quite explain their disintegration, and in particular where Fabinho and Bakayoko got to when things got real.

There shall be three added minutes.

The difference between the attacking and defending has probably been more pronounced than in any game I've ever seen.

Meant to say, Moutinho replaced Silva a couple of minutes ago.

This has been a great comeback from City, though they were given a jump-start by Subasic. They;re strong favourites to go through at this point.

But here come Monaco down the left, Silva's low cross turned goalwards by Falcao ... but Caballero gets down at the near post to save superbly with his foot! That might be a tie-winner!

GOAL! Manchester City 5-3 Monaco (Sane) Monaco have fallen apart! City raid again and Silva scoops a lovely ball over the top for the unmolested Aguero - what on earth is going on?! - and he squares for Sane to tap in. And this could get messier yet.
82'
Sane breaks down the left so Fabinho swings an arm across his phizog for which he's booked.

Falcao flicks on for Germain, and whatddaya know, there's Stones, relieving him of the bal and moving away with it nicely.

And that's exactly what they're doing, Aguero wriggling space just outside the box and wellying a shot that Subasic beats clear.

If City have any sense they'll try and score again while the going's good.
79'
Change for Monaco, Germain on for the superb Mbappe.

This has been an entirely brilliant, ridiculous game. Both sides are devastating going forward, both sides are infantile going backward.
