Hello and welcome to our LIVE coverage of Manchester City's Champions League clash with Shakhtar Donetsk from the Etihad Stadium. City have already secured top spot in Group F, and victory tonight will give them an 100 per cent record going into the last 16. Shakhtar need a point to guarantee progression. Defeat will be enough if Napoli fail to beat Feyenoord. I'm Pete Hall, and I will be bringing you the action, as it happens, live!

Not the form of Champions...

City come forward, but their final ball is severely lacking this evening. Shakhtar very comfortable.

ALMOST TWO! Bernard again arrives from the left, in the box, but he is denied by a fine stop from Ederson. City on the ropes here.

Great play from Marlos again to carry the attack to City, he lays it off for Bernard, who takes his time, waits for his moment, pulls the ball onto his right foot, before curling a sublime effort over Ederson and into the net. City now have to score twice to deny Shakhtar their knockout dream.

GOOOOOOAAAALLL! Shakhtar Donetsk 1-0 Manchester City. Bernard curls a beautiful strike past Ederson to break the deadlock.

Marlos goes tumbling on the edge of the box, but nothing is given. Certainly seemed to be making the most of it.

Danilo is the recipient of the game's first yellow card after leaving his foot in on Ismaily, minutes after Marlos had curled an effort straight at Ederson in the City goal.

Sane makes his way to the edge of the box, cuts back inside, but is dispossessed at the last.

Shakhtar playing some good stuff, but they are being careful not to over commit.

Real Madrid already 2-0 up against Borussia Dortmund, with one man centre stage once more. Thought he was having a bad season?

Foden gets forward well, whips a cross into the middle, but it is cleared. Decent start from the youngster.

City starting to up the ante here. Ilkay Gundogan tries to thread it through for Jesus, but it doesn't come off.

Taison appeared to pull up earlier on, but is soldiering on. Risky, but he is so crucial to this side.

Good work from Foden. He plays a nice one-two with Leroy Sane, and he looks to pile into the box, but it ricochets off his shin and out for a goal kick. Positive play nonetheless.

BLOCK! Facundo Ferreyra stabs the ball towards goal after Taras Stepanenko had done well to burst into the box and pull the ball back, but Fernandinho makes the block and clears.

Back on English soil...

Looks like Foden is playing left wing-back tonight. Will be interesting to see how he gets on there! Taison is in some space on the edge of the box, but he blazes well over with his right foot, when he had more time to compose himself.

Well Shakhtar's task just got that little bit more challenging...

KICK OFF! We are under way here in the Metalist Stadium in Kharkiv. Frenchman Benoit Bastien is our man in the middle.

So can Shakhtar do it again? Playing in Kharkiv, so far from home in war-torn Donetsk, they continually triumph in the face of adversity. Tonight, a draw will do against a much-changed City side. City have stumbled a little of late domestically, but they keep finding that bit extra to grind out wins. A win for City would see them become the seventh side to win all six of their group matches in the competition, with Real Madrid the last side to do so in the 2014/15 campaign. Plenty still to play for! We are minutes away...
