They contest a bouncing ball and Renildo kicks his leg through Bruno's ... but gets the ball. He does, perhaps, bang Bruno through the knee, though; I'm not sure if there's going to be a VAR check. It seems not, because nothing happens and once Bruno is up, we get on with the game; somehow, it's a goalkick, which makes no sense, either it's a penalty or it's a corner.

Fred is on absolute flames at the moment, a lovely little flick beating Lodi on the by-line ... but his cut-back is as bad as you expect it to be.

They move it from left to right, Dalot trying to whack Telles' cross when it comes over to him; Renildomakes a good block. Ronaldo, who was involved in that move, is currently playing across the front line; maybe United are trying to find late runners to penetrate Atletico that way.

Griezmann stays down a moment, but Bruno won the ball.

Maguire boots it out of play then gives it away with a poor header, and though he partially redeems himself with a challenge on the edge, the ball arrives nicely for De Paul, whose shot takes a deflection, forcing De Gea to claw away from just inside his far top corer!

That attack had Ronaldo on the right and Elanga in the middle.

Dalot charges through Koke and midfield, feeding Ronaldo who finds Bruno who drives to the line and drills a cross that Elanga, running near post, meets as well as he can from maybe four yards out ... but his shot clocks Oblak on the head and bounces away!

Griezmann sending Llorente down the right, but his cut-back picks out McTominay.

Knocking it about with no particular aim, just pleasant keep-ball to frustrate United.

De Paul tries a long one for Felix, and though Varane again intercedes, De Gea does well to see his kick wind up with Fred when it's directed straight at Griezmann.

They're still capable of losing their collective head the second something goes against them, but for the now they look fairly confident.

Sancho megs De Paul and rolls a ball outside him, but Telles has stayed at home.

A lovely flick from Fred allows Bruno to find Ronaldo, again down the left. This must be a plan, and he drives down the flank, tries a cross that's blocked behind, then gets excited and takes a short corner quickly; it comes to nothing.

Koke moves it onto De Paul who sweeps inside to Joao Felix, but Varane blocks him off and clears.

With Ronaldo, and eventually Dalot pumps a high one into the box that Oblak is slow to come for! Elanga leaps like he's on a diving board, wins the header, takes the clatter ... and the ball flies just over! That's a great effort, and though the ref gives a foul, I don't think VAR would've backed him up had it gone in.

United really struggled to get out in the first 15 minutes of the first game, but Atleti are being more circumspect here.
