Otherwise, in midfield Bruno and McTominay return, so Pogba and Matic drop out. I imagine Ralf Rangnick contemplated playing him on the left, but it didn't work the last time he tried it, in the first leg, and Sancho is playing beautifully in that position. Anthony Elanga, then, is an obvious pick for the right, given Marcus Rashford's form.

That's a bold line-up from Ralf Rangnick, but also an obvious one - it's the players he trusts the most. I might've gone for Wan-Bissaka not Dalot, but I guess Atleti don't offer loads out wide so maybe the more attacking option makes more sense.

A year ago, Man United looked a decent bet against any team, fresh from a comfortable 1-0 win away to Manchester City and on their way to a second-place league finish. Then, in the summer, they added Jadon Sancho, Raphael Varane and Cristiano Ronaldo ... to get worse?

It's quite an achievement when you think about it, and the way they bottled the first hour of this tie makes a serious run seem extremely unlikely. However, they can still call upon numerous matchwinners, two of whom - Sancho and Ronaldo - are now bang in form, sort of. So, though it's hard to see them keeping a clean sheet tonight, beating them will, most likely require at least two goals.

And Atleti are absolutely capable of scoring them. Like United, they've had a miserable season, but their form has improved a bit in recent weeks and their pedigree tells us there's a performance in them. whether they can find it tonight remains to be seen - but if they do, no one should be surprised.

Or, in other words, we're in for some serious excitement. Play the music!
