CLEAN LOOK
Lewis miscontrols a quick pass into the area, but with his second touch ghosts past Klostermann before booming over from ten yards out. He should have placed that, surely. Seconds later Bernardo Silva almost intercepts a pass by Blaswich in the six yard box; City are warming up here.

GOOD TACKLE
Foden gets between the lines, turns, and slides a ball into the feet of Haaland on the edge. He's one on one with Klostermann, who dispossesses Haaland smartly and clears the danger.
25'
GREALISH GOES OVER
City are labouring in possession a little, with RB Leipzig hunting them down. Grealish goes on a sortie and is shouldered off it by Openda, before Leipzig's counter breaks down when Xavi loses the ball. Grealish gets a bit of treatment when the ball goes out, I think he caught his head as he fell.

LONG BALL
Rodri drops a lofted pass in behind Simakan for Haaland. It's a wide angle, and Haaland can only bobble a week shot at Blaswich.

THAT GOAL
This seems to have stirred City, and the Etihad, from their respective slumbers now.
17'
ALMOST THROUGH!
Lewis picks out Haaland with a defence splitting ball through the middle. He should be clean through but his first touch is horrible, and Leipzig scramble it out for a corner.
16'
CHANCE!
City get a free kick on the left touchline, which Bernardo Silva swings in. The ball finds Dias, six yards out, and he puts a free header straight over the bar.

PEP WATCH
He's looking vexed, as well he might. City haven't been at it so far.

GOAL! MANCHESTER CITY 0 RB LEIPZIG 1 (OPENDA 13)
Well now, Leipzig lead! They've earned it so far, and this was so simple. One long punt from Blauswich finds Openda in the City half, who rolls Akanji without touching the ball and is clean through on goal. Openda calmly sidefoots his finish past Ortega, and what a start from the visitors!

CONFIDENT STUFF
Leipzig have lost two of their last three in the Bundesliga, but look pretty sprightly here. It's mostly in their own half, but a bout of slick possession is keeping the crowd in a hush.
8'
XAVI AGAIN
This is nice stuff down the left, as a back heel from Raum goes through Walker's legs and releases Xavi. For a second he's in behind Akanji, but dallies before crossing and Akanji recovers to win the ball back.
5'
HALF A CHANCE
RB Leipzig move forwards, and Xavi Simons and Forsberg exchange passes. Xavi is in space 20 yards out, but his curled effort goes a yard wide of the far post.
3'
BLOCKED SHOT
The first purposeful move of the night sees Grealish slip a pass through to Foden on the left of the area. Foden stands it up for Bernardo Silva at the back post, but his bouncing shot is blocked and cleared.

A NICE TOUCH
Here's Pep from yesterday, on the passing of the great Terry Venables. Way, way back in 1986, Terry took Barcelona to within a whisker of their first ever European Cup title. As it would do for him a decade later, a penalty competition nixed a romantic journey just as it looked set for the perfect ending. Sometimes it's the journey that's important though, and for the paths he chose to walk in football management Terry won't ever be forgotten.

RECURRING NIGHTMARES
RB Leipzig will have bitter memories of their recent visits to the Etihad. They were shellacked 7-0 in the second leg of the Round of 16 last season, coming hot on the heels of a 6-3 hiding in the group stages in 2021-22. They’ve been handy enough in Europe in their short existence though, having reached the last four of both the Champions League and Europa League in the last five seasons.

FLAWLESS CITY LOOKING FORMIDABLE
It’s four wins out of four in this season’s competition for Pep Guardiola’s team, as they look to defend their Champions League title. All four wins have been by at least two goals, and they’re making light work of their defence even without Kevin de Bruyne.
