Good evening! Welcome to live coverage of Portugal versus Germany from the Allianz Arena in Munich. We’re into the fourth match of Group F here, and it’s beautifully poised. After losing their opening match to France, the Germans are on the brink already here. Another defeat could nudge them definitively towards the ignominy of another first round exit, to sit alongside their early departure from the 2018 World Cup in Russia. If Portugal administer that defeat, they’ll saunter through to the second round. Should Germany win however then we could be in for a right old nerve jangler in the final round of matches, particularly as Hungary have just held France 1-1 in Budapest. All to play for then, let’s get about it; teams from Munich incoming.

The players should be aware of the result from Budapest earlier, which has really invited the cat in to hang with the pigeons. Depending on the result this evening, all four teams in the group could go into their final match with a fair chance of progressing to the second round.

On the ITV coverage, Souness and friends are having a little patter about double pivots in midfield. Today it's Danilo and Carvalho under the spotlight for Portugal. Judging by the reaction from Wembley last night, the double pivot (or DP if you're pressed for time) is a great idea if you go on and win the game.

This is the first game between these two sides since Germany walloped Portugal 4-0 in the group stages of the 2014 World Cup in Brazil. The zinger-cracking Thomas Muller was the star that day, registering a hat-trick; Pepe, who marked him that day and will face him again this evening, was sent off when the two clashed in the first half.

Unless you've somehow avoided all social media in the last four days - and if you have, my trilby in the air to you - you'll be aware that Ronaldo became the all-time record scorer in the European Championship with his brace against Hungary. There really aren't many records left for him to set; he's never won a golden boot at an international championship though, and for a man seemingly driven by individual achievement that's surely an additional motivation this summer.

If Low is to go out on a high with Germany, they'll have to do it the hard way. The Germans are on the back foot after France got ahead early and held them at arms length in Munich on Tuesday night. Tonight is huge; Germany have never lost the first two matches in the group stages, and a defeat here could well see them spinning out of the tournament come Wednesday evening. On the plus side, they're at home tonight and also against Hungary for the group finale; but they need to find their rhythm, and quickly.

Portugal won their first game, but they won it late. Their 3-0 victory over Hungary in Budapest on Tuesday was only secured with an 84th minute deflected opener from Raphael Guerreiro and drenched with an industrial tin of gloss by two late goals from Cristiano Ronaldo. Don’t be fooled mind; there’s some serious fire power in that Portuguese squad, and if they can get safely out of this group they could go deep into the tournament. Could they possibly retain the title that they won in France five years ago?

Lets have a quick chat about team changes: there aren't any. Both Fernando Santos for Portugal and Joachim Low for Germany keep faith with their respective eleven from the opening round of matches.
