This has been a dismal first half from Scotland. Have they even created a chance? They have looked dangerous at times, but there has been no substance to their play in the final third.

McBurnie is down! This is a bit of a concern for Scotland. The ball was gone when the Kazakhstan midfielder battered into the Swansea City forward. There was no need for that at all.

It's just not working for Scotland on the left side of the defence. Shinnie really does look lost there. Kazakhstan are being afforded so much time to build up play and get the ball into the box.

What a strike! Kuat takes on the effort from 25 yards out, with the ball dipping and swerving. Bain does well to get hand up and push the strike over his own crossbar. What a shot.

While the cross just there from Burke was pretty dreadful, he does look the most creative Scotland player. He has the beating of the right wing back. He can't live with Burke's pace.

The ball has to be better! Armstrong played Burke down the left wing, but after beating his man the on loan West Brom winger could only send his cross sailing behind for a goal kick.

Scotland need McGinn to take a grip of things in the middle of the pitch and drive the ball closer to the front three. The Aston Villa man hasn't done enough in the opening half hour.

This is a disaster for Scotland because now Kazakhstan have something to protect and so they can sit back, absorb pressure and then hit out on the rapid counter attack. Suits the hosts.

One of the things that is abundantly clear already is how much Scotland are missing the influence of one of either Robertson or Tierney in the left back position. Shinnie looks a bit lost.
