Tonight's teams have met eight times in UEFA club competition, Ajax possessing the record W3 D1 L4 (W2 D0 L2 in Amsterdam). The sides have scored ten goals each in those ties so expect goals this evening.

Ronny Deila remains in good spirit despite suffering a poor couple of weeks as Celtic boss. "Good teams bounce back," he said. "It can be a circus, we know the demand is there. We can win everything in Scotland. We are determined to win trophies and improve in Europe."

Ajax have made an impressive start to the season and occupy top spot in the Eredivisie league table, having taken 13 points from five matches, and they are firm favourites to continue their good form this evening but they’ll have to do it without Arsenal loanee Yaya Sonogo who is out with a groin injury.

CELTIC DEBUT: Croatia Under-21 defender Jozo Simunovic is handed a place in Ronny Deila’s starting eleven and will partner Dedryk Boyata in central defence. Celtic have struggled at the back in recent weeks and the inclusion of £5.5m-valued Simunovic is hoped to shore up a defence which conceded two goals at Aberdeen in their first domestic defeat of the season at the weekend.
