West Ham v Lyon result: Bowen goal helps 10-man Hammers draw with Lyon

The Hammers have only come up against a French side in European competition once before. That was back in 1999 when the Londoners beat Metz 3-2 on aggregate in the Intertoto cup final.

“We must be inspired by what we've done in the Europa League in the league. West Ham are an athletic team, with technical quality. They have players who can make a difference. The Europa League is a tough competition."

"It's arguably the biggest game of my career. A lot of our squad haven't been in a European quarter-final before but we've earned the right to be there. The most important thing is not to get carried away with the home occasion. The atmosphere will be electric but we must make sure we remember there are two games."

The Hammers could potentially face Barcelona in the last four of this competition – but Moyes and Co aren’t getting ahead of themselves.

"We're not looking any further than Lyon, they were in the Champions League semi-final two years ago. It would be crazy to look beyond this. How could we dare? They are too big a club. We're really excited by getting to the quarter-final of a European competition. It's a big deal for any club."
