SC Freiburg v West Ham live: Mohammed Kudus starts in Germany

West Ham made it 17 games in Europe without defeat, as new English record, as goals from Lucas Paqueta and Nayef Aguerd saw off Freiburg and took them top of Group A with two wins from two games.

By far the better side in the first half, West Ham took the lead on eight minutes when a terrific header from Lucas Paqueta finished off Jarrod Bowen’s fine cross.

Freiburg, though, improved a bit after the break and on 49 minutes levelled the match, Roland Sallai smashing home after two good saves from Lukasz Fabianski.

It looked, though, like West Ham could up it if they needed to and sure enough on 67 minutes, Aguerd applied the finish James Ward-Prowse’s excellent corner demanded.

Freiburg huffed and puffed thereafter but never seriously threatened, while West Ham look by far the best team in the group and, given a fair wind, potential winners.

A few players rested, good run-outs for others, and a win that means they're near-enough certain to qualify from the group.

But sends it earlier. Robbie Savage wonders if there was a handball in there, but the whistle goes.

And finds Phillipp, whose shot is blocked behind. Up comes Atudolu...

And Ginter is up but he can't impart a meaningful touch.

We've seen nothing to think West Ham won't see this out, though I'm surprised Paqueta's gone off. He's been the best player on the park and I assumed Moyes would want his possession-keeping ability there until the end.

Who, out on the left, leaves three men standing before lofting a lovely ball over the top for Bowen. He takes it down, makes space for the shpt .. and drills wide.

So few ideas and so little conviction.

Mavrapanos is up to head clear.

They were 2-0 down.

Grifo goes off and Breunig comes on.

And Gregoritsch tries a cross to the back post that it looks like Sallai knocks behind. The ref, though, thinks it's a corner, which Fabainski eventually collects.

But West Ham have looked a class above Freiburg, playing within themselves and able to turn it up when necessary.

But Mavrapanos gets underneath it and can only head high.

Who collects on the right of the box, cracking a low shot that's deflected behind for a corner.
