Earnshaw now takes aim from the edge of the box with Terry backpedalling, but his curling effort floats past the far post.

Ramsey plays in Gunter with a fine pass but the right-back is penalised for a push on Young just as Hart flings out an arm to make a tremendous stop from his shot.

Downing, who has been decent tonight, is replaced by Adam Johnson.

What a miss! Blake taps Ramsey's free-kick back across goal and the ball bounces into the path of Earnshaw, who just has to score. He has to. Somehow, though, the striker turns the ball over the bar. Shocking.

Smalling is penalised again for a foul on Collison. Another free-kick for Wales...

Smalling climbs over Ramsey 25 yards from goal to concede a free-kick. Bale is the man to take it but his effort soars over the bar. That was disappointing.

It's a good decision by Capello: Lampard has offered very little and perhaps the introduction of Parker will give England a bit more presence in midfield.

Lampard is afforded a decent reception as he is replaced by Scott Parker. Remember, a booking tonight rules him out of the Montenegro game in October. An unnecessary risk?

Rooney collects the ball in the box and his frustration continues as his attempted pass out to the right flies right out of play.

Ramsey lifts a delightful pass out to Earnshaw on the left of the box but the striker cannot get the ball under control and give his captain a reverse pass.

The Welsh defence have stood firm and have done pretty well to quieten Rooney. England's primary threat has been from Downing and Young in the wide positions.

England have allowed the pace of the game to drop and in all fairness they don't particularly look like conceding. However, they should really be pushing for a second.
