Good evening and welcome to the Super Cup final between Chelsea and Villarreal!

Villarreal are coming, Gerard moving right and crossing really well, but Chalobah, who lost his man to begin with, lunges into a redemptive interception, and the resultant corner comes to nowt.

We see a video of the chance again, and actuallty Mendy makes a really good save, tipping the ball onto the post. But really he oughtn't to have smelt it.

Mendy sends the back three downfield to kick clear, only to slip, allowing Gerard to intercept. He strides into the space no lnoger occupied by Chelsea's back three, holds off Rudiger nicely, opens his body ... and plans a side-footer against the base of the post and out! What a let-off for Chelsea!

Yup, it's Chelsea dominating the ball again.

A long diag allows Alonso to feed Havertz, and he clatters a shot - it's a lovely connection - that whizzes just wide of the near post. Various in the ground think it's gone in, the joy and disappointment one of football's loveliest sounds.

Will Villarreal look to get back into the game, or look to stay in it then go for a gaol in the last 20? My guess is the latter.

Ziyech is now on the Chelsea bench, his arm in a sling. I doubt we see him at the weekend, and maybe not for a while after that.

Off we go again.

Chelsea have been and are the better team, but Villlarreal could easily be level.

Gerard Moreno pulls right and sticks a tremendous ball to the back post where Alberto Moreno arrives, unmarked ... and what a connection he makes, absolutely lamping a volley against the bar ... and the ball drops in front of the line! What an escape for Chelsea!

Back to Rudiger, if the ref appraises a foul, which he did, then he's lucky to stay on the park because his trailing leg was very high. He was extremely lucky not to be sent off in the Champions League final, because he absolutely bodied Kevin de Bruyne, on purpose.

There'll be three added minutes.

Trigueros' delivery is poor and Rudiger heads clear at the front post.

Rudiger sees the ball and sees Pina the other side of it so reckons he's got a free hit, getting a touch and ploughing through the man; there's a brief scuffle, then a yellow card just outside the box, right hand side. After which Tuchel complains, and he's booked too.

Off goes Ziyech, Pulisic replacing him.

Ziyech is down inside his own box with a shoulder situation, and looks in some trouble. He hurt it trying to run with Foyth at a corner and that looked innocuous, but given his reaction, that's not the reality of the situation. Pulisic will come on to replace him, by the looks of things.

Which they use well, Alonso forced to stick Trigueros' ball in behind for a corner ... which Rudiger heads away.

Dia splatters Kovacic in centrefield and somehow, the ref appraises a free-kick to Villarreal.

Chelsea win a free-kick near the left corner of the box and Ziyech swings a delicious ball out towards the far post ... and there's Zouma! But instead of going with his head he opts to extend a leg,unable to control a shot that flies over the top from a few yards, with the keeper nowhere. That was a good chance.

Chelsea re targeting Foyth, and Kovacic spreads a decent ball out to Alonso. He can't make anything of it, but he wanders infield and when Ziyech finds him, he bumps a shot towards the near post, where Asenjo turns away.
