Welcome to Everton versus West Ham in the third round of the FA Cup. It was a particularly unfestive Christmas period for the Toffees, who have lost their last four games and now sit down in 13th place in the Premier League. The Hammers had more of a mixed-bag, with two defeats, a draw and a win.

The frustration was reaching new heights for the home side but when it really mattered Lukaku came up with a goal.

Can Everton grab an unlikely winner?

GOAL! Everton 1-1 West Ham United. It did not seem like it was coming but Everton have equalised and it is Romelu Lukaku with the goal! The Belgian is picked out perfectly by Bryan Oviedo's low cross from the left and after a touch he slams it into the net.

Oviedo's first time ball to the back post finds his opposite full-back, Seamus Coleman, but the Irish international's header is weak and wide.

The home fans cry for a penalty as they see James Collins pull at Lukaku's shirt. Nothing given.

Carlton Cole is shown a yellow card as he scraps for possession a little too eagerly.

From the corner it seems like Jagielka will head home but he somehow makes no connection whatsoever and the chance is gone.

Everton make their final change as winger Aiden McGeady comes on for Besic.

Ross Barkley goes close twice in a minute. First his long ball forward towards Lakaku goes past everyone and just wide of the far post and then the midfielder drives into the area but sees his high shot towards goal parried behind by Adrian.

Everton fans are not happy.

Everton look extremely narrow since Samuel Eto'o replaced Mirallas. They are resorting to long balls and playing to West Ham's strengths.

Lukaku is booked as he concedes another needless freekick for pushing Reid in the back. Things are getting very frustrating for Everton.

West Ham make their third and final change as Joey O'Brien replaces Amalfitano. The substitution will see Jenkinson move further forward, onto the right wing.

Everton appeal for a penalty as Reid pressures Naismith on the edge of the area. The Scot goes down but it seems like there was little contact from the New Zealand international.

It is almost 10 years since Everton lost five in a row. Can they find the goal that will extend that record?

Besic and Cresswell row with eachother as West Ham win a freekick level with the edge of the Everton penalty area. Downing eventually drives the ball in and Reid gets to the ball first but his header drags well wide.

Distin goes down with nobody near him. The Frenchman will have to be replaced, with England international John Stones coming on to replace him.

Matt Jarvis now makes way for Diego Poyet, son of Sunderland manager Gus.

The veteran striker is booked without touching the ball as he pushes Cresswell from behind. It was hardly worthy of a booking but the defender's reaction would have suggested otherwise.
