Welcome to Everton versus West Ham in the third round of the FA Cup. It was a particularly unfestive Christmas period for the Toffees, who have lost their last four games and now sit down in 13th place in the Premier League. The Hammers had more of a mixed-bag, with two defeats, a draw and a win.

Winston Reid then makes a crucial block on a Mirallas strike as Everton almost get clear. The chance came from some very sloppy play by Nolan, who lost the ball midway inside his own half.

That's better from Everton. After a long passing move, Barkley feeds the ball inside to Naismith who strikes just wide from 20 yards out.

Mirallas tries to control Coleman's ball into the box as Everton finally get out of their won half. He is surrounded by three West Ham defenders though and is quickly wrestled off the ball.

There's a definite sense of anxiety among the home fans at Goodison Park as Jenkinson wins another corner down the right for the Hammers.

It's the first real chance, as Lakaku fires in low from the edge of the area. The Belgian's strike is fumbled by Adrian but the goalkeeper recovers well to block Mirallas on the follow-up.

Besic clears the first corner straight out for a second, which the Hammers play short to Jarvis. The winger dinks a cross to the far post and finds Reid, but his header drifts well wide.

Amalfitano then breaks into the box on the right-hand side but the shot is blocked. It's another corner for the Hammers...

Winston Reid needs some medical attention after a clash of heads with Naismith. The defender, who is at the heart of plenty of transfer speculation at the moment, is back on his feet quickly and we are back underway.
