Pickford smashes a clearance from his area, it ends up out of play on the left wing.

Sunderland break down the right, but Gibbs cuts out a pass down the wing for Watmore from Yedlin.

Lens strides forward after being released from a through ball on the halfway line. He drills in a shot from distance with his left foot, but it flies wide of the post and goes behind.

Sunderland are pressing Arsenal but the home side are coping with the attention for now.

Arsenal start the match, and keep possession for the opening half-minute.

Sunderland have a relatively strong side, but Jordan Pickford, who has spent time on loan at Preston North End, replaces Pantilimon in goal, with Mannone sticking to the bench.

For Arsenal, they start with Oxlade-Chamberlain and Chambers in central midfield, as Wenger shuffles his pack. Olivier Giroud plays, by Mesut Ozil sits out the match. Mathieu Debuchy is kept on the pitch amidst rumours he could be leaving this winter.
