The hosts win a corner and the crowd get to their feet to urge their players on. It's hotting up in Buckinghamshire.

Wycombe have responded well to going behind and have seen most of the ball since the goal.

Richards is back on, although he's hobbling a bit. That's one to keep an eye on.

Richards has injured himself in the act of scoring that goal and is down receiving treatment to his ankle. Garde looks on with concern - he can't afford to lose any of his regular starters if he is to retain any hope of an unlikely run to Premier League survival.

GOOOAAALLL!!! Micah Richards open the scoring for Villa, tucking a shot in at the far post after being teed up by Gil. What he was doing in the box in open play in the first place isn't entirely clear, but he's given the visitors the lead. 1-0.

A heavy tackle in midfield has Remi Garde shaking his head, but it's hardly a surprise that the home side are trying to impose their physicality on the fancy-dan Premier League stars.

Villa try and play out from the back, but it's not clicking for the Premier League visitors and they haven't been able to get their attacking players into the game. The Adams Park crowd are taking heart and the atmosphere is cranking up.

The Villa defence is all over the place as Wycombe get their first sight of goal, but Bunn makes an easy save.

It's hard not to use clichés today. You can really feel the magic of the cup in the air, especially with Wycombe up for a proper tussle with a giant killing on the cards.

Gil over-hits a pass to Richardson, wasting an opportunity to take advantage of an overlap on the left.

Wycombe will be quite pleased with how this game has started. They've not been overrun by any means and look threatening when they are able to spring quickly on the break.

There's been a notable lack of quality from both sides in central midfield so far.

Lynch is caught flat-footed as Villa players flood forward and look to get on the end of a pull-back into the box, but Pierre bails his keeper out with a composed clearance.

The Adams Park crowd get excited as Wycombe counter. The hosts earn themselves a corner and there's complete panic in the Villa defence as the ball drops in the six-yard-box and poked a yard wide of the target. Encouraging for the underdogs.

The big news of the opening moments is that Rudy Gestede has cut off his hair. Yes, I know I'm a week late to the party, but I didn't watch Villa play last weekend... understandably.
