Daniel Sturridge starts, Philippe Coutinho returns to bench for Liverpool v Southampton

Daniel Sturridge will lead the Liverpool line against Southampton in their League Cup semi-final first leg, but attention will also be fixed on the bench after Philippe Coutinho was named amongst the substitutes at St Mary’s.
Coutinho has been absent since picking up an ankle injury in the 2-0 win over Sunderland in late November.
The Brazilian's likely introduction from the bench could see him reunite with fellow attacking midfielders Roberto Firmino and Adam Lallana, who both start as Jurgen Klopp restores his leading stars following the drab 0-0 draw with Plymouth in the FA Cup.
Loris Karius gets the nod over Simon Mignolet in goal, while Sadio Mane will not feature having joined up with Senegal ahead of the Africa Cup of Nations.
Southampton: Forster, Cedric, Yoshida, Van Dijk, Bertrand, Claise, Davis, Romeu, Redmond, Tadic, Rodriguez… Subs: Lewis, Long, Ward-Prowse, Hojbjerg, Stephens, McQueen, Sims.
Liverpool: Karius, Clyne, Lovren, Klavan, Milner, Lucas, Can, Wijnaldum, Lallana, Firmino, Sturridge… Subs: Mignolet, Gomez, Moreno, Stewart, Coutinho, Woodburn, Origi.
