ERIK TEN HAG SPEAKS
The Manchester United manager had this to say in his programme notes ahead of this clash:
"It is only a few months since we lifted the Carabao Cup at Wembley Stadium and we all remember what a great feeling that was. It was an important competition for us last season and that has not changed this year. We want to defend the trophy so this is an opportunity for us to keep moving in the right direction."

FORM COMING INTO THIS MATCH
In the Premier League just one point and one place separates these two sides, with United sitting in ninth on nine points and Palace in 10th on eight points.
Manchester United have lost three of their last four matches across all competitions, losing to Arsenal, Brighton and Bayern Munich before getting back on track with a narrow 1-0 win over Burnley on the weekend.
Palace started the season on the front foot with a 1-0 win away at Sheffield United but since then have picked up one Premier League win from their next five matches (3-2 vs Wolves). Last time out they were held to a 0-0 draw by Fulham at Selhurst Park and will be hoping they can really kick into gear tonight with what would be a huge win at Old Trafford.

LEAGUE CUP HISTORY
Manchester United are the defending champions of the EFL Cup, having beaten Newcastle United 2-0 at Wembley last season. Only Liverpool (9) and Manchester City (8) have won the competition more times than United (6).
Crystal Palace have never won the League Cup and have only ever been as far as the semi-final, a stage they have reached on four separate occasions. They reached the semi-final most recently in 2012 where they lost to Cardiff City on penalties.
Palace entered the competition at the second round this season and had to come back from 2-0 down to beat Plymouth 4-2 to ensure their place in the third round.
