Samuel is giving Filipe Luis something to think about on the right wing. The Brazilian likes to venture forward but he's having to restrict his movement down the flank due to the threat of Samuel.

There had been speculation in the Spanish press this week that Costa would make the bench, to give Simeone the option of throwing him on. But he's not in the matchday squad after all!

Simeone is flapping his arms on the sideline. He knows Villa should have scored that, but he can take comfort from the fact that his side are on top at the moment.

Villa hits the bar! Garcia flicks the ball onto the former Barcelona striker, who has been left unmarked at the back post. He has time to set himself, but he leans back and his effort clips the top of the woodwork and goes over!

It's all very scrappy at the moment. Both teams are desperate to get a result, with Malaga needing a point to secure their survival at the bottom of the table. Atletico have the title in their sights.

Atletico Madrid have started this game at a rate of knots. They want to avoid the kind of result they suffered against Levante last week.

So here's the scenario for Atletico. If they can better Barcelona's result, and equal Real Madrid's, they will be crowned La Liga champions tonight.

And Tiago is in the thick of things again! This time Miranda gets to the byline and fires a cross into the six yard box where the midfielder is stooping, but Angeleri clears under pressure.

Tiago comes close! The corner kick comes into the box from Koke on the right side and the former Chelsea midfielder flicks his header just past the post. Decent opportunity, but couldn't do much more with it.

That was a sore one! Weligton comes across and slams a forearm into the face of Garcia. And he is rightfully shown a yellow card. Very early in the game to enter the book. Long way to go.

The big team news for Atletico is that they are without Diego Costa for this one. Will he be available for the game against Barcelona next week?
