This is very risky play for Rayo Vallecano, who are still sticking to passing the ball out from the back. The one team you don't have to do that against is probably Atletico Madrid!

Costa is struggling to get involved in the game and his frustration is starting to show. Although his unselfishness for the goal must be recognised. He could have taken on the shot himself, but squared for Villa.

Viera plays a scooped pass forward, over the top of the Atletico Madrid defence, but Bueno can't bring the ball down with his long leg outstretched.

Lass gets played down the right hand side, in behind Filipe Luis but his pass across the box is too strong for Larrivey and the ball drifts out of play on the far side.

Gabi plays a short corner kick with Sosa, but when the ball is played into the box it looks too long and deep. But Ruben comes off his line to punch away for a corner kick when he could have caught it.

Arbilla plays a pretty shoddy backpass to his keeper, who has to come rushing off his line to stop Costa from reaching the ball first.

Atletico Madrid's high pressing game has been cranked up since the opening 10 minutes, when both sides were feeling their way into the contest. Rayo are struggling to keep hold of the ball.

And now Ruben has stopped a deep cross into the box from reaching the head of Miranda behind him!

Excellent double save by Ruben! First the Rayo keeper stops from Costa, who fires a shot at goal from 10 yards, then he tips Sosa's effort on the rebound on to the crossbar. Really solid goalkeeping!

Filipe Luis likes a dribble up field. He's more adventurous than most wingers! Really is a threat on the left flank.

Indeed the decision to award the penalty kick in the first place looked to be a little soft so I suppose you could say that justice was done. Very solid stop by Courtois.

PENALTY SAVED BY COURTOIS! The Atletico Madrid keeper dives low to his right to save Jonathan Viera's spot kick. Decent effort but an even better save.

PENALTY TO RAYO VALLECANO! Manquillo fouls Bueno in the box.

GOAL! Rayo Vallecano 0 Atletico Madrid 1 (8 mins - David Villa). The home side have shot themselves in the foot! They try to play the ball out on the edge of the box from a goal kick, but Costa takes control of the ball, slides it square for Villa who finishes into the empty net.

Villa tries to slot Costa into a shooting position afer taking control of the ball on the halfway line but the Brazilian striker shoots wide of the target.
