There has been an over elabroance to Barcelona's play at times tonight. They are trying plenty of flicks and tricks, and when they don't come off the home crowd are letting them know about it!

That's the danger I was talking about earlier. They are a good side Villarreal and carry real threat on the counter attack, as Barcelona found out for the opening goal a few moments ago.

Barcelona have the best defence in Liga, having conceded just nine goals before tonight. But that was poor defending from them for the goal. They have a number of chances to make the clearance.

The next 15 minutes I imagine will be rather tought for the away side now. They are already camped deep inside their own half, bracing themselves for the looming pressure.

For all their possession and general threat, Barcelona haven't really created many real goalscoring opportunities, other than the one Suarez passed up a few minutes ago.

Asenjo makes another big save, this time denying Suarez as he races through on goal. He smothered the shot, but the flag was up anyway, although neither played knew that.

That was an important interception from Asenjo! Alves gets forward and sends a cross into the box from the right side, looking for Suarez, but the goalkeeper gets a crucial touch on the cross.

Cheryshev plays a nice little pass into Giovani to try and release his teammate through on goal, but the Mexican is stopped by Pique before he can make his way into the penalty area.

We haven't seen much from Cheryshev yet. He has pace to burn and has been very impressive for the Yellow Submarine this season, but they haven't had the chance on the break.

Best chance of the match so far! Suarez swivels eight yards to shoot from a loose ball, but he somehow puts his effort wide of the near post. He can't quite believe that he has missed that.

Not a great effort from Messi. The Barcelona number 10 takes the freekick on the edge of the Villarreal box, but he can only plant his shot into the centre of the opposition wall.

How has Bruno escaped a booking there? He snapped Rafinha on the edge of the Villarreal box. That was a horrendous challenge from the defender. Not sure how he avoided a yellow card.

Right on cue Messi opts to drive at the Villarreal backline, taking little steps as he attempts to break through into the box. But Ruiz makes the challenge and comes away with the ball.

Perhaps it's harsh to say that Messi isn't playing well. He's dropping deep into midfield, so he is seeing plenty of the ball, but he hasn't made an impression in the final third of the pitch.

Suarez has been the brightest of the Barcelona attackers so far tonight. He's had a few shots on goal and is trying his best to link up with Neymar and Messi, who we haven't seen much of.
