PENALTY KICK TO REAL MADRID! Negredo is penalised for a hand ball inside the area.

I don't think I've even mentioned Ronaldo's name yet. Whenever the ball goes anywhere near him, the Valencia defenders swarm round him. Not long before he starts drifting, I reckon.

Of course, Real Madrid are chasing a world record at the moment. They only need three more wins to set the world record for consecutive wins by a football team. They face a test here.

Valencia win the ball from Kroos in the centre of the pitch, with Gomes trying to slot through Barragan, but the pas from the playmaker is far too strong and the ball drifts out of play.

Real Madrid have hardly seen any of the ball in these opening 10 minutes or so. Valencia are doing a great job of closing them down as soon as they get on the ball, but how long will that last for?

The noise inside the Mestalla for this is deafening! There's no better venue in La Liga when it is on form. Of course, Valencia are set to leave this place behind, with a new stadium being built.

This is also the competitive debut of Perez, who has been signed from Benfica for 2 million Euros in the January transfer window. A lot is expected of the Argentine, who goes straight into the lineup.
8'
Santo has been very brave with his team selection here, playing two strikers up front against a team of Real Madrid's threat and quality. Alcacer and Negredo can cause some damage!

This match has started at such a rapid pace! Neither side is being afforded any time to settle on the ball, which means the play is disjointed and scrappy, but very entertaining so far.

Piatti gets down the left wing as Valencia come forward on the counter attack, but his cross to the near post is cleared by Ramos. The home side have started well here, and at pace too!

As they have done many times this season, Valencia are playing three at the back as they look to attack Real Madrid. Santo says that they will not sit back against the table-toppers.

After the mini break, La Liga is back up and running! Atletico Madrid won yesterday to put the pressure on the teams at the top, and now it is Real Madrid's turn to return to action.
