Atletico Madrid are edging closer and closer with every passing minute to another big win in this Spanish title race. This win would take them to the top of La Liga, at least for a few more hours.

Torres should have done better with that effort. The Atletico Madrid striker was given the ball about 18 yards out, but he could only shoot straight at the Rayo Vallecano goalkeeper.

Can Atletico Madrid hold out for the final 10 minutes of this match? They have been in this sort of situation so many times before, but Rayo Vallecano are really starting to come on strong now.

Rayo Vallecano are beginning to ask some questions of Atletico Madrid, with Miku the one posing most of the problems. The hosts are allowing them plenty of space on the edge of the box.

Of course, whilst Atletico Madrid are camping deep and looking to soak up the pressure coming at them from Rayo Vallecano they also have threat on the counter attack. They are still dangerous.

Speaking of the Atletico Madrid defence, Gimenez and Lucas have been excellent tonight. They are both young players and great prospects but they have the look of veterans.

Rayo Vallecano are dominating possession at the moment, but they aren't really making much of an impression on the solid Atletico Madrid defence. The home side have shut up shop.

That looked a sore one! Llorente and Torres went in for a challenge, with the latter's foot high. But it was actually the ball that struck the Rayo Vallecano player rather than the studs of Torres.

Rayo Vallecano win the freekick on the edge of the box after the foul by Kranevitter, but Piti makes a mess of it and blasts it well over the crossbar. That was an opportunity for the away side.
