Bale has been relatively quiet so far this evening. There have been a few burst of activity but for the most part he hasn't done much. Real Madrid need his energy and drive.

The ball just wouldn't fall to Willian Jose inside the box. It was good play from Las Palmas in the attacking third, but the striker just couldn't get the shot away on the target.

Having said that, Las Palmas are still looking very dangerous on the attack. They are not afraid to commit players forward in an attempt to flood the Real Madrid defensive ranks.

There is a sense that Real Madrid have taken a grip of this game in the last 10 minutes or so. The goal has given them some swagger and they are the ones now passing the ball around.

INCHES AWAY FROM A RONALDO GOAL! Lucas did really well to get down the wing and square the ball into the box, but Ronaldo's low shot is deflected just wide of the post.

So how will Las Palmas respond to falling behind? As I have said a few times now, they have been the better side on the balance of play. Will they continue to push forward on the attack?

Real Madrid have been second best for the most part all the way through this match, but they now find themselves ahead. That's what good players like Ramos do, though. They make the difference.

GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAL! Las Palmas 0 Real Madrid 1 (25 mins - Sergio Ramos). What a header that was! Ramos finds the very top corner of the net with a glancing header about 18 yards out from goal. There was some power in that!

RONALDO SHOULD HAVE OPENED THE SCORING! Modric plays the perfect pass through to the Portuguese winger, but his left-footed shot is straight into the midriff of the keeper Varas.

For the first time in the match Bale has the chance to stretch his legs and drive at the Las Palmas defence, but he takes on one too many and is robbed of the ball about 20 yards out.

Ramos almost found Ronaldo with that header! The centre-back was up from the back for the freekick, but his header couldn't quite find his teammate inside the penalty area.

Isco has hardly been involved for Real Madrid. The playmaker is supposed to be the creative spark behind the strikers, but he hasn't seen enough of the ball to provide that spark.

Zidane is down on the touchline barking instructions to his players. He presumably wants them to take more care with the ball. Real Madrid have been second best to Las Palmas this far.

This has not been a good start to this match by Real Madrid. They have been so slack on the ball in the centre of the pitch and in front of their own goal as well! Not good enough.

MOMO BLASTS OVER! Once again Modric loses the ball in the centre of the pitch, with Nili's shot blocked. The rebound falls to Momo, but from a tight angle he sends it high and wide.
