The funny thing is that Atletico Madrid look to have grown weary since they conceded the opening goal. They looked fine before Diop found the net with his towering header.

Roco needs to be careful with his marking. That's twice that he has been spun by Torres, who is very keen to try and get in behind this Espanyol defensive line. Dangerous.

PAU MAKES THE SAVE FROM CARRASCO! Once again it's the Belgian causing problems for the home side, shooting with his right foot. But the goalkeeper tips the ball round the post.

Espanyol look assured when they have the ball. The problem for them is that they are up against the best defence in the league. There isn't much for them to exploit at the back.

Torres has been in pretty good form of late, which is why there is the suggestion that he will stay at Atletico Marid beyond the summer. That was an excellent bit of play from him just a moment ago.

TORRES COMES SO CLOSE TO OPENING THE SCORING! That was like the Torres of old! He created the chance for himself inside the box but curled a shot against the woodwork.

Filipe is enjoying plenty freedom down the left side. If Atletico Madrid are to find a breakthrough soon I get the feeling that it will come through that side of the pitch.

The omens aren't particularly good for Espanyol. They have only scored once in their last seven games against Atletico Madrid. They need to show some cutting edge in the final third.

Good pressure from Moreno. He chased after a back pass to Oblak and forced the Slovenian goalkeeper to put the ball out of play. That sets a good precedent for the home side.

Espanyol are holding their own for the moment but there is the sense that Atletico Madrid are starting to take control of the contest. They have edged things so far this evening.
