What an entertaining match! But ultimately Real Madrid will look at this as two points dropped. They twice had the lead and allowed it to slip. I suspect the post-mortem will focus on Zidane's decision to take off Ronaldo. Was that the right call? He didn't look too happy with things on the bench.

- End of 2nd Half
FULL TIME: Las Palmas 2-2 Real Madrid
HUGE CHANCE FOR BENZEMA! That should have been a winner for Real Madrid. The ball was played to the back post but Benzema somehow managed to put his volley over.
Real Madrid are throwing everybody forward in search of a stoppage time winner, but Las Palmas are holding firm for the moment. They are repelling everything coming at them!
Four minutes to be played at the end of the second half. More than enough time for a winner!
Can either side find a winner? Are Real Madrid about to drop three more points just days after they drew to Villarreal? They have been wasteful in the final third. Haven't taken their chances.
The camera pans to Ronaldo who looks sulky on the bench. Zidane could get pilloried for taking off the number seven when the game wasn't won yet. He could come in for criticism for that call.
That was rather unfortunate for Casilla, but it was a well worked corner from Las Palmas. They have impressed throughout and have taken their chances in front of goal.
- GoalSergio AraujoUD Las Palmas
GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAL! Las Palmas 2 Real Madrid 2 (86 mins - Sergio Araujo). That wasn't in the script! A cushion header falls to Araujo who somehow manages to squeeze the ball past Casilla, who saved his first shot but still couldn't keep it out!
Does Isco coming on mean that James will be favoured for Tuesday night's game in the Champions League against Borussia Dortmund? Is the Colombian being rested for that?
Bale gets the chance to drive at the Las Palmas backline, pushing them all the way to the byline, but the Welsh winger's cross is a poor one and the home side can clear easily.
- OffÁlvaro MorataReal Madrid
- OnIscoReal Madrid
Here comes another change for Real Madrid and Isco will get the last 10 minutes. He hasn't had much game time this season.
Casilla's distribution has been a little suspect at times. The Real Madrid keeper has put his team under pressure with some slack passing, although his teammates have covered for him.
I get the feeling that Las Palmas wil create one last good chance before this match is out. They have been excellent on the ball, but they are now looking rather weary. Can they find the energy?
- Yellow cardDani CarvajalReal Madrid
That was a late challenge from the Real Madrid right back. He deserved that yellow card.
Zidane has shown some strong management over the past few weeks to start this season. Isco and James have been ostracised while Ronaldo has just been subbed. Strong.
That's only the fifth time since 2014 that Ronaldo has been taken off in a Liga game for Real Madrid. He looked to be weary tonight, so it was probably the right call from Zidane.
Was that a pre-arranged change by Real Madrid? Did Ronaldo know that he wouldn't last the full 90 minutes? Or was he surprised by being taken off? It looked more like the latter.
- OffCristiano RonaldoReal Madrid
- OnLucas VázquezReal Madrid
Well, you don't see this very often. Ronaldo has been taken off and he doesn't look too happy with the decision.
Looks like Zidane is preparing another change here. Lucas is stripped and receiving treatment on the touchline. But who will he come on for? I expect it will be Bale who comes off.
Las Palmas have been impressive throughout this match, but they have struggled to create much in the way of clear goalscoring opportunities. Now they must do that to take something from this match.
- OffMomoUD Las Palmas
- OnSergio AraujoUD Las Palmas
Las Palmas are making their first change since losing that goal. The onus will be on them to come out an attack now.
Three of the four attackers were involved in that goal. Morata was the one who slotted the pass through to Ronaldo and it was Benzema who eventually finished the chance. Good play.
- GoalKarim BenzemaReal Madrid
GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAL! Las Palmas 1 Real Madrid 2 (68 mins - Karim Benzema). Real Madrid have the lead again! Ronaldo's initial shot is saved by Varas but Benzema is on hand to follow up and convert the rebound. 1-2.
It looks like Benzema is playing on the right side of what has become a front four, and that's an unusual position for the Frenchman. I can't recall him playing there before for Real?
BENZEMA HAS A CHANCE IMMEDIATELY! The ball fell to the French striker from a corner kick, but it caught him cold and it simply bounced off him at the back post. Rusty.
- OffMarco AsensioReal Madrid
- OnKarim BenzemaReal Madrid
Here comes the change from Real Madrid and it's Benzema who is coming on for the away side.
Both Bale and Ronaldo have been livelier since the restart, but they still aren't doing enough. Las Palmas are finding it rather easy to hold them at arm's length.
Carvajal lost his footing at just the wrong time! Asensio picked out the run of the right back in behind the opposition defence, but he fell over as he looked to control the pass.
El Zhar should have attempted to play the ball across goal! He was fed into the channel, but rather than square it he took on the shot himself and blasted it high and wide of the target.
This has been very impressive from Las Palmas. They have responded well to going a goal behind and at the moment they are the ones playing with a swagger, using the ball well.
RONALDO HAS A GOAL DISALLOWED! Bale attempts to bundle through the Las Palmas backline, the ball breaks for Ronaldo who finishes, but the flag is raised for offside.
- OffJonathan VieraUD Las Palmas
- OnNabil El ZharUD Las Palmas
Las Palmas make the change. It's Nabil El Zhar who comes on for the injured Vieira. How will he effect the game?
- Yellow cardDavid GarcíaUD Las Palmas
The referee's patience has run dry. The Las Palmas players believe that Ramos should have been shown a yellow card, but it's Garcia who sees the booking. That had been coming.
Las Palmas are playing on with 10 men for the moment as they prepare the replacement for Vieira. They obviously weren't expecting it.
Vieira looked to pull up as he chased Modric as the Croatian surged forward. There wasn't any contact, it's a muscle injury and so the midfielder will be coming off for the hosts.
This is a problem for Las Palmas! Vieira is down on the ground and it looks like he will have to come off for the home side. That is a big blow. He has been their best player so far.
Ronaldo already looks livelier in this second half than he did in the first. The Portuguese winger didn't see much of the ball up until the break, but he has come out with fresh energy.
Real Madrid have the first chance of the second half, but rather than slip into their shell Las Palmas hit out themselves and attack. You have to admire that kind of mentality.
BALE AND RONALDO COMBINE! The latter comes flying down the left wing and squares the ball for his Welsh teammate. He strikes his shot well but Varas makes the save and Morata is offside.
The two teams were well matched in the first half, with Real Madrid probably edging things in the way of chances, but the capital club need to up their performance for the next 45 minutes.

The second half is under way! It's 1-1 between Las Palmas and Real Madrid.

- End of 1st Half
HALF TIME: Las Palmas 1-1 Real Madrid
Real Madrid haven't been tested much in defence by Las Palmas, but they haven't dealt well with what has been thrown their way. That was symbolised by Varane's header for the equaliser.
It's so refreshing to see a team like Las Palmas go behind and then hit back immediately. They have now taken a grip of the contest and it's Real Madrid longing for the break.
- GoalTanaUD Las Palmas
GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAL! Las Palmas 1 (40 mins - Tana) Real Madrid 1. The equaliser didn't take long in coming! Las Palmas have drawn level. Varane's clearing header from a cross was a poor one, with the ball landing at the feet of Tana. He calmly slotted home.
The camera shows Kevin Prince Boateng in the crowd. The midfielder is sidelined for Las Palmas and he has had enough of this first half. He has headed inside for his half time meal.
So Real Madrid have the lead. That was the first time that they have showed any real quality and conviction in the final third. Nacho did so well to create the chance in the first place.
- GoalMarco AsensioReal Madrid
GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAL! Las Palmas 0 Real Madrid 1 (33 mins - Marco Asensio). Real Madrid have the opener! Nacho was up from the back, saw his low shot saved by Varas but Asensio arrives on the scene to head home the rebound.
This has been a great game to watch so far, but it could do with some quality in the final third. Both teams have struggled to take their chances when they have created them.
WAS THAT A PENALTY? Morata goes down inside the penalty area under the late challenge of Aythemi, but the referee waves away the claims. There was something in that.
Las Palmas are looking more confident with every passing minute. They are feeling their way into the contest and I get the feeling they could produce some big opportunities not before long.
The final pass has been missing from Real Madrid's play in this first half so far. They looked good until they get to the edge of the penalty area and then their moves are breaking down.
VIEIRA GETS THE SHOT AWAY! The Las Palmas midfielder drives forward to the edge of the Real Madrid penalty area, but his low shot is saved on the stretch by Casilla.
Bale and Ronaldo need to step up their game here. Morata has been at the centre of everything in these opening 27 minutes, but two members of the BBC have been very quiet.
Morata just couldn't contort his body enough to get the power he needed on the overhead kick. Carvajal won the ball and crossed into the box, but Las Palmas just about held firm.
GOALMOUTH SCRAMBLE! Carvajal bursts into the box, squares for Ronaldo who is bundled off the ball, Morata's shot is blocked and Carvajal commits a foul on Garcia. Good chance, that.
- Yellow cardRoque MesaUD Las Palmas
That's such a cheap yellow card to concede, deliberately blocking a Modric freekick.
Real Madrid haven't made the most of the opportunities they have created for themselves. They have found themselves in some dangerous positions, but they have done little.
With Marcelo missing Real Madrid are starting Nacho in the left back position for this game. He is the Spanish football equivalent of John O'Shea. He can play anywhere along the backline.
This has turned into quite an open encounter in the last few moments. Las Palmas are an entertaining side and they are looking to push forward just as much as Real Madrid.
FIRST CHANCE FOR BALE! For the first time in the match the Welsh winger gets the chance to drive at the Las Palmas shot, but his effort is blocked once he gets into the box.
MORATA SHOT ON GOAL! The Real Madrid striker gets his effort away on target but Varas makes the relatively simple save. Morata was trying to bend it into the corner of the net.
Las Palmas have actually edged the possession so far. There is certainly a confidence to their play when they have the ball at their feet, the problem is they haven't done much with it.
RONALDO GETS HIS FEET IN A MUDDLE! That was a good opportunity for the Portuguese, but he got the ball stuck under his feet from a Morata pull back. The chance disappeared.
Real Madrid have been the better of the two teams early on in this first half, but besides Morata's headed chance they haven't created much in the final third. They need to be more productive.
RONALDO GOES TO GROUND! Real Madrid want a freekick for a handball by a Las Palmas defender, then Ronaldo hits the deck in the box, but Michel won the ball cleanly.
What is noticeable about this Real Madrid performance so far is that there isn't much of a link between the back four and the midfield. That's where they miss someone like Casemiro.
I get the feeling that if Las Palmas are to take anything from this game they will need Varas to have the game of his life in goal.
Zidane has dropped Benzema from his team, but because of his stature at the club the former French midfielder can do that sort of thing. Benitez would never have got away with this.
MORATA HEADER SAVED! Real Madrid win a freekick at the byline, with Modric finding the striker with his delivery. But Varas is alert and pushes Morata's header over the crossbar.
KROOS SHOULD HAVE PASSED! The first real chance of the match is pinged off on goal by the German, but he probably should have fed it out right to Ronaldo instead.
Las Palmas are a team that like to play out from the back, but they will find it difficult to do that against a side of Real Madrid's quality tonight. They might have to compromise their style.
Asensio is also starting for Real Madrid in this game. The youngster has really impressed since returning from Espanyol, making an impression early on this season.
Ronaldo still looks short of full match fitness. He has endured a fragmented start to the season and his performance against Villarreal on Wednesday was well below his usual level.
Modric is back for the visitors to Gran Canaria. Real Madrid really missed him against Villarreal during the week. The Croatian should make some sort of a difference this evening.
What is interesting about Real Madrid's starting lineup is that Morata has come in for Benzema, despite the French striker starting in the midweek 1-1 draw against Villarreal.
So Real Madrid's 16 match winning run came to an end against Villarreal during the week, but they are still unbeaten this season. That should continue with this evening's game.
