Replays show that Suarez probably fouled Varane as he chased down a ball in the build up to that goal from Messi. That's the referee evening things up for the Catalans.

Well, that came against the balance of play and against the odds as well. Barcelona are having to play on he counter attack, but it worked for them there as Messi swept home the strike.

Coutinho was the one sacrificed at the break, with Semedo coming on in his place. The Brazilian playmaker struggled to make much of an impression in the opening 45 minutes.

The word from Real Madrid is that Ronaldo has picked up a slight ankle strain and that he has only been taken off at half time to keep him fresh and ready for the Champions League final.

Real Madrid have started the second half as they ended the first - on top. They are having a lot of joy in switching the play from side to side, making the most of that man advantage.

Ronaldo has been taken off as well. He was struggling with a knock in the first half and Asensio comes on in his place.

Barcelona were forced into a change at the break, with Semedo coming on following the sending off of Roberto.

SENT OFF! Roberto has been shown a straight red card for an off the ball incident. The Barcelona right back appeared to punch Marcelo. It might have been more of a slap.

And now Messi enters the book for a wild challenge on Ramos! That was retribution on behalf of his friend, Suarez. It's hotting up at Camp Nou.

Suarez and Ramos clash. Suarez suggested that Ramos had elbowed him and that would up the Real Madrid captain. So the referee does the classic one yellow for one player...

This is Coutinho's first Clasico, but the former Liverpool playmaker is struggling to make much of an impression for Barcelona. The home side haven't seen much of the ball of late.

BENZEMA GOES SOLO! Real Madrid come forward on the counter attack with ease. Benzema cuts inside on to his right foot and curls a shot towards the far post, but it goes wide.

This half started so well for Barcelona, but they have fallen out of the game quite dramatically since conceding the equaliser. Real Madrid look very certain and sure of themselves.
