Indeed, this has been a difficult start to the match for Atletico Madrid. In midfield and attack, they have looked fine, but at the back they are struggling to cope with Real's movement.

The first booking of the match is shown to Kroos for a late challenge on Griezmann.

Replays show that Atletico Madrid probably got away with one there. Juanfran tripped Kroos in the penalty area. The German got there first and was clearly caught by the full back.

OFF THE BAR! Two highlights here. Real believe Kroos was fouled in the box by Juanfran. From that, Asensio takes the shot from the loose ball and clips the crossbar. But was that a spot kick?

ALMOST THE OPENER! Bale wins a header from a Kroos corner kick to send the ball to the back post. Ronaldo threw a leg at the ball, but Oblak got down to make the save. Closest we have come so far.

This is a big match for Bale. The Welshman has been in good form of late, but didn't feature against Juventus during the week. He needs to show that he deserves to start the big games, like this one.

The hosts have started the better of the two teams. They are looking to play the ball quickly in the final third, not taking their team over set pieces and corner kicks either.

It had been reported that Zidane had wanted to play Vallejo at centre back this afternoon. The youngster had been expected to face Juve next week, but he has since suffered an injury.

Of course, Ronaldo comes into this game in incredible scoring form. He has 18 goals in his last nine games. Griezmann is also in excellent scoring form. Both are playing with confidence.

You don't see that often at this level of the game. Atletico Madrid had a throw in up the field in the opposition half, but Juanfran committed a foul throw. He looks a bi bemused by that.

BALE ATTACK! Atletico Madrid start on the front foot, but Real Madrid create the first chance. Bale tried to find Asensio in the middle, but his pass was cut out. He should have done better.

So this might not the title-deciding fixture that it has been in recent seasons, but these two teams are chasing second place in La Liga. The result here will go a long to deciding that.
