The pattern of the first half is being replicated in the second half. Atletico Madrid have started on top and have scored an early goal to put them ahead. Now they must stay on top of Valencia.

Simeone will be pleased with that contribution from Lemar. The Frenchman has struggled in his first season at Atletico Madrid, but he has been excellent this evening.

Morata becomes the first Atletico Madrid player to be shown a yellow card this evening.

The scenario is a simple one - if Valencia score a second goal and win this match then Barcelona will be champions tonight. If not, the wait for the Catalans will stretch to the weekend.

Straight at Oblak! A defensive clearance fell to the feet of Parejo 20 yards out. The ball bounced up nicely for the Valencia playmaker, but his half volleyed shot was straight at the goalkeeper.

Atletico Madrid have lost their way as this first half has progressed. Morata could have scored a hat trick in the opening 15 minutes, but he has barely touched the ball since then.

Atletico Madrid have some defensive rebuilding to do in the summer. Hernandez is leaving for Bayern Munich, while Godin and Juanfran are well into the twilights of their respective careers.

Of course, just to recap, a Valencia win this evening will see Barcelona officially crowned La Liga champions. A draw or Atletico Madrid will force the Catalans to wait until the weekend.

That goal had been coming. As I was saying, Atletico Madrid started the match on fire, but have since allowed Valencia to come back into the game and now the away side are on top.

It looked like Atletico Madrid might blow away Valencia in the opening 10-15 minutes, but the away side have found a foothold in this game and they are now starting to venture up field.
