For a spell, everything was going Getafe's way. Valencia and Sevilla were losing. However, Valencia have since turned things around at home to Alaves. They lead 2-1.

Getafe have thrown on Portillo at the break which suggests that they will be a bit more adventurous in this second half. They really need something from this match to make fourth place.

Barcelona have the lead, but you couldn't really claim that they played well in the first half. Getafe created more opportunities, but Vidal's goal is the difference between the two sides.

Busquets has been truly horrendous in this first half. The Barcelona midfielder has been in dreadful form these past few weeks. What has happened to him? So slack on the ball.

As things stand... it will be Valencia who move into fourth place in the Liga table. They have turned things around against Alaves, while Sevilla are still behind to Atletico Madrid.

Barcelona have been very fortunate in this first half. They could have been a goal or two behind, but instead they have the lead as the result of a pretty excellent Messi freekick cross.

There's a lot happening at the Anoeta... first Vallejo was shown a red card for handballing on the goal line. Then Courtois made the save to deny Jose from the penalty spot!

GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAL! Barcelona 1 (39 mins - Arturo Vidal) Getafe 0. Barcelona might not deserve it, but they have the lead! Pique flicked on a Messi freekick into the penalty area, Soria made the save, but only succeeded in palming the ball out to Vidal, who made no mistake in finishing into the empty net from yards out.

There's the first yellow card of the match and it's shown to Foulquier for hauling down Coutinho.

A Barcelona shot on target! Is that the first time that Soria has been tested? Roberto got down the right side, pulled the pass back to the edge of the box, but Rakitic's low strike was straight at the goalkeeper.

This performance certainly won't silence the critics of Valverde, who are increasingly claiming that he should leave Barcelona at the end of the season. This has been insipid so far.

If the Barcelona supporters were hoping for a response from their team after what happened during the week, they haven't got one in this first half. Really, really poor so far.

There's been a goal at the Wanda Metropolitano and Atletico Madrid have taken the lead against Sevilla through Sevilla. That is yet more good news as far as Getafe are concerned.

Another HUGE Getafe chance! Busquets is robbed of the ball right on the edge of the penalty area, but from 16 yards out Molina curls his effort just wide of the far post. Barcelona got away with one there!
